ricko19 Posted September 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2019 I know the CCL website says streaming video isn’t supported even with the premium WiFi package but I’ve also seen a few people say that on the Vista they WERE able to stream video like Hulu Live Tv. So I’m just wondering if anyone has first hand experience with this & if so could you please let me know! I’m traveling with my best friend who is baseball CRAZY and we are looking at sailing the vista out of Galveston next October during the playoffs/World Series so I have to figure something out 😂. From what I’ve found they also don’t show the games in the sports bar anymore, but if that’s not the case then it wouldn’t be an issue. TIA! M_BA Posted September 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2019 It just depends on the connectivity of the ship at the time. At the least, you'll be able to get audio, but video may be choppy or unavailable due to long latency times.

We've talked to Carnival employees and they even say the cheapest internet is the way to go for basic internet! But they should have the play offs/world series on in multiple bars! Organized Chaos Posted September 24, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2019 There have been multiple reports from users on here who have said they were able to stream quite well on the Vista and Horizon. For example, some of the services that have been mentioned are YouTube, HBO Go, the ESPN app, and others. The Vista, Horizon, and Sunrise are officially Netflix enabled, so as long as they don't block the other services, the wifi on those ships is fully capable of streaming video. This isn't a guarantee that other services will work for you, but I'd say your chances are better than average.
balcony bound Posted September 24, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2019 We are just off the Breeze on Saturday. I bought premium wifi a couple of days, mostly to check on Hurricane paths and weather, and needed to communicate with family. I WAS able to use my cable tv app to watch live tv, downloaded something from Netflix as well (just trying to get my money's worth for the wifi). YMMV Our cruise was pretty much an older crowd, and I'm guessing less than usual were using wifi - not sure if that makes a difference.

jdemps Posted September 25, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2019 Is October the only time you can go? Seems like a stretch to bank on wifi working for your sports fan to keep up with the playoffs. We were on a ship when football playoffs were on and the connectivity to the sports bar tvs kept going out. I wouldn't plan on anything working perfectly so if they need to watch the games or be a sourpuss all trip, book another time.
ricko19 Posted September 25, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted September 25, 2019 Yes unfortunately October looks like our best bet just due to their work schedules and other factors like my sons school activities. But it based on the replies I’ve gotten it sounds like there’s at least a chance and that’s good enough for me! 🤣 thanks for the input everyone! I really appreciate it! WashCoCruisers Posted September 26, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 26, 2019 We were on on the Horizon during March Madness, and we watched the games in the sports bar, no problems! Sometimes it wasn't the games that we wanted to watch, but they were there and someone wanted those games. There shouldn't be any problems watching the play-offs in the sports bar or in the casino bar!
