celoplyr Posted November 6, 2019 #51 Share Posted November 6, 2019 I lost my card once. We were waiting in the area for a tour, and port security found it. They gave it back to my mom when we were ready to go back to the ship. It was nerve wracking though! I knew it as soon as we left the port.

It is not in the pocket you last remembered putting it in. Nor any of your other pockets. You've checked each 4 times before your spouse turns back to you and sees the panic on your face. After she goes through your pockets...yet again, and gives you a piece of mind about having the map of the town in the same pocket as your cruise card...what are your options? (Side note - she had been very happy for the map when we were looking for a bathroom for her) Turns out your best course of action is to go up to security and admit to loosing your card. It does happen regularly. I was the 5th person that day. They walk you over to security, check your other ID, ask name and cabin #. Since they took your picture at the beginning, they use that to verify you. After that, go to passenger service to get a new card. I've lost my cruise card many times, but up until this last cruise it's always been on the ship (one time withing an hour of getting on the ship the first day). On our most recent cruise this past month in Japan, I actually lost my card somewhere in port. It was on a Celebrity ship and turned out to be not big deal other than trying to get the Japanese security office to understand that I lost my card. After a thorough security check by the Japanese Security patting me downs and going through every opening in my back pack, he escorted me to Celebrity's security personnel at the gangway who verified show I was with my passport and picture in their system. Once through check security an on the ship, they walked me to Guest Services to get a new card. Really wasn't any big deal.
Aplmac Posted November 16, 2019 #53 Share Posted November 16, 2019 It happened at St. Thomas, USVI. After walking around shopping, etc. we go back to the ship. Madam can't find her card. Assumes she's lost it (she hasn't, but that comes later) We get to the gate of the secure dock area, admitting loss. He-Guard pulls out a big ole ledger he has there. What ship? What cabin number? Name? What's your date of birth? (I was impressed with that last one: clever!) We were thru!! Yesss! Have a feeling she discovered/re-discovered her card somewhere because I don't remember much hassle at the Doink! machine/ship's security but even if she hadn't recovered it by then, there would have been similar questioning, plus their photo ID solved it. Have another feeling that, by the time we got to the cabin, she discovered her card Somewhere...
Aplmac Posted November 16, 2019 #54 Share Posted November 16, 2019 This one's about someone else's lost card -not mine! It's a little before sailaway, at night (San Juan, P.Rico) and I'm up on a windy top deck near the funnel, taking photos. Hurtling across the deck towards me comes a blue (first-timers) card. I smack my foot down on it to secure it, while looking around for a desperate panicked face. NO desperate panicked face. How odd! The card escaped its owner and they didn't even know? I bent over, picked it up, showed it around...still no claimers! What an unusual way to acquire another card for my collection where it still resides today -safe and sound! pacruise804 Posted November 18, 2019 #55 Share Posted November 18, 2019 I would have turned the card into guest services, but that's me. We haven't lost our card, but did have an excursion ticket blow away once. The driver also had a checklist and we had no issue still boarding the van 🙂

I'm glad you got on your excursion. I once lost our tickets to the Military Tattoo in Edinburg. Luckily, since DW had the credit card with which they were purchased, they were able at their office to replace them.

What do you do with them? Do you display them somehow?

Stored in plastic sleeves in a 3-ring binder. Willing to show them to anyone interested in them, but who? The binder gets tons more interested on board ship, when shown to Crew. I had one Cruise Director comment that it was like looking thru his entire career with Carnival! It's become a history of Carnival cards, as much as anything else 1

Or hotel key cards. I still have the cards from each of my cruises, but it's a small collection at a grand total of 4... 1

My husband likes to save the cards, he also likes to keep our race bibs (5 &10k's). As long as he has room in his desk and I don't have to deal with the clutter it's fine by me 🙂

pacruise804 Posted November 18, 2019 #64 Share Posted November 18, 2019 He's good not keeping the few airline passes and we always turn in the hotel card at checkout 😄
