Tell me it’ll be okay! Reassurances and hand pats welcome. 😀

We originally booked Carnival Fascination out of San Juan and invited another couple to go with us. Long story, but they convinced us to change to virtually the identical cruise but on Celebrity Summit instead.

Thoughts on Celebrity?

Well, without trying it, you will never know.

I will NEVER cruise X again - We took X to Alaska - the ship is beautiful, was a newer ship, very clean, tried to be upscale.  But the pax and the management absolutely ruined it.  Thank God I had a balcony so I could "escape" the horrible pax with no manners - (Crossing the buffet closed line, reaching into the salads with their hands and then throwing the salad on the floor) - and yes, this happened more than once!

Good luck.  For me, I'm only a couple cruises away from platinum on Carnival.  I choose fun.

I've cruised the Celebrity Summit twice as a solo, and those winter cruises cost less than the Fascination.  I loved the indoor heated pool, it was a great place to relax after getting back to the ship after an excursion, no kids in there either.  The food and decor are substantially better as well, and Celebrity has more specialty restaurants to choose from.

We recently sailed the Celebrity Equinox and I can say that this 11 day cruise was better than any of the 40+ Carnival sailings I've done.  We had a balcony that was about 15 feet deep, they were dancing in the atrium at 11PM and the casino was completely smoke free.  We had exquisite service in the specialty restaurants and MDR and enjoyed gelato and assorted coffees at Cafe Al Bacio.

We checked in and boarded in no time, and were in our cabin about as soon as I would have been boarding a ship as a Carnival Diamond.

About the only thing I didn't like about Celebrity was their dress code - long pants in the evening in the MDR, theater and casino, ugh.  I even went to some of the theater shows and enjoyed one or two, something I stopped doing on Carnival long ago.  Celebrity also had some different shore excursions than the ones I'm used to on Carnival.

We’ve experienced the exact same things on Carnival , as well as much worse things like a very large dude who stayed in the hot tub for many many hours , drinking beer heavily and not getting out of the water the entire time (you do the math)

Right, because Celebrity passengers are notoriously low class compared to Carnival...  Lol, come on.....

Celebrity is a step up from Carnival in almost every way.  The biggest difference, however, is the vibe.  Carnival has a more family friendly fun vibe.  Celebrity is more upscale, quiet, refined.  If you need waterslides, skip celebrity.  If you like a more relaxed, quiet cruise than Celebrity blows carnival out of the water.  Nicer ships, nicer amenities, much better food, nicer passenger mix, etc.  Definitely something to try once and see if you like it.
