That's what I was thinking. I had slate shingles on my first house. It seems like that would be very heavy though. Maybe it's resin that looks like slate? Either way, it is lovely.

Well, the internet isn't cooperating right now, so I may just go into text mode... Hopefully this is a good picture, because it took me about twenty minutes to upload...

We continued to walk... I had a restaurant in mind, but it was still early, and I wanted to get some pictures...

 

While I was waiting for that picture to upload, I found out that the bricks in old San Juan are from around 1784, and were brought over from Spain as ballast in the ships... We take so much for granted in our everyday lives, and here they are in Puerto Rico with these extraordinary brick streets that they also probably think nothing of...

So, now we're all the way over to the ocean across from where the ship docks... There's an old local neighborhood that I've heard isn't really tourist friendly... We didn't go down there, but I wanted to...

Checking in finally after another rough day of work. Very excited for your San Juan pics/write up as this is one of the stops on our cruise on the Breeze in April and we don’t have anything planned. Thanks again for bringing us along Sid!

We just continued on, even though I had no idea where we were going... I had a pretty good idea of which direction the ship was, but I'm also not Magellan...

Up and down the beautiful streets of the old city, we walked...

And, even more, we continued... Even though I had absolutely no idea where we were going... I did have my "spidy sense" of roughly where we were...

We kept going... Like I said, I was navigating like the Indians... The sun is that way. The ship is that way. Ect...

We came across a little place called the Marilyn's place... If you've ever read any of my older reviews, then you know the significance of this... If not, well then you're going to have to go back and read the older reviews... Anyhoo, it's a very special thing to me...  I wanted to pop in and take some pictures, but I didn't want to be "that guy" who just walks into a random place and starts talking pictures... We just kept going...

Eventually, we made it all the way back around to the restaurant that I wanted to eat at in the first place... Well, they were on a one hour wait, and they would text when our table was ready...

 

Now, here we are in the middle of a strange country with an hour to kill, so I decided to just start walking back towards Marilyn's place... We passed several nik nack shops along the way... Even, a park that was over run with cats...

We made it back to Marilyn's place, a real dive bar, not a fake touristy dive bar... There were only about eight or ten seats in the whole place... We got a funny look when we walked in, and not like funny "ha ha" ... Funny, like: who are these strangers walking into our neighborhood establishment...

 

I ordered one of the local beers, and complemented them on the decor...

All feet are disgusting in any context and should be kept off all furniture.

I asked where the restroom was, and was directed "that way"... Well, as some of you may know, I'm an afficianado of restrooms of the Caribbean... Well, let's just say that we've just now reached the absolute pinnacle of said genre... I mean that it was straight out of a dream... Straight out of who even knows where...

 

And, within seconds, my life was complete... You literally had to duck your head to even get into the tiny space... I took a peek into the ladies room, and it was almost as magnificent...

Ok, there may have been a couple of duplicate pictures in that last post... I'm going to let it slide...  Now, more of Marilyn's place...

 

It was about this point, when paranoia took over... I had this feeling that our drinks had been drugged, and they were going to harvest our organs on the black market... Maybe, it was because I hadn't eaten since earlier in the day. Maybe, the drinks were drugged? Whatever the case, we paid our bill, and continued on...

We arrived back at Punto de Vista in about an hour since we'd made the reservation... They said that it shouldn't be too long now...

They said that it would be just a few more minutes, and we could order a drink while we wait... I had a Patron margarita...

Although I've read a number of your reviews, this is the first time I'm actually following along while it's "live." It's been interesting to follow along this way.  Does "C" think it's cool or weird that you do the live review?
