whats going on in Ft lauderdale on 1/23/2021?

I'm looking for a hotel for 1 night on Jan 23 2021 for a pre-cuise stay.  I cant find any rooms in Ft. Lauderdale.  Most of the places are already booked.  Ive looked as far as 2 1/2 hours away in Melborne or Port St. Lucie for rooms. Theres nothing!! What on earth is going on?

Super Bowl is in Miami in 2020 - OP is looking for 2021 dates.

 

You are looking too far out - most hotels will not release rooms for reservations until about a year out -- look again in late Jan or in February 2020 and you should find availability.

I believe it just may be too early to book a hotel for that date. Most hotels become available around 11-12 months out.

Agree, far too early to book. Some will start opening up rooms 365 days out. Most will be available by about 10 months out.

Bookings for January 2021 won’t open up until early 2020. Reservations should start to open up in either February or March 2021. January won’t be cheap but I’m sure you are all ready aware of that.

Well, the College Championship Bowl game is being played in S Florida the week prior in 2021, but I'd think that crowd would be gone by then.

Correct.  The hotel websites will often just say "sold out" or something to that effect.  It's rare that you can book most hotels more than 11-12 months in advance.  In other words, they're not already booked

Definitely to early we cruise out of Fort Lauderdale every January just keep checking!

Correct.  Interesting tidbit:  overseas, many hotels don't allow booking until 90 days out.  Found this to be very common in SE Asia.
