TQ1188 Posted February 7, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2020 Hope all is well with everyone. Is it a good or bad idea to book a cabin on the same floor as the ship’s medical center? I am thinking it does not matter but appreciate feedback from more seasoned cruisers. Thanks!
klfrodo Posted February 8, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2020 After 20 cruises, I wouldn't imagine it makes any difference. However, no cruiseline or ship (except USNS) I have ever been on has had passenger cabins on the same deck as the medical facility.
TQ1188 Posted February 8, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted February 8, 2020 Thanks for the feedback. I thought that would be the case. Yet, the deck plan for the Norwegian Encore shows a medical center on deck 13. Cabins are located there as well.
rabidstoat Posted February 8, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2020 It's on Deck 10 on the Epic. Only other thing on that deck are cabins.
yoolykeme Posted February 8, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2020 If it were a deck 3 cabin, that might suck, just bc it's far away from everything else.
Rare shof515 Posted February 8, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2020 I cruised on the breakaway twice and my room was behind the medical center. no issues no noises or anything like that.
YVRBassElectric Posted February 8, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 8, 2020 We sailed 12 days on Deck 13, didn't realize it was the same floor as Medical until someone else commented
Rare mking8288 Posted February 8, 2020 #8 Share Posted February 8, 2020 On the Jewel/Dawn/Gem class ships - MC on Deck 4 Midship, next to the elevators ... double set of doors. We've stayed on the same deck but not really quite "nearby" but our area is generally quiet & fine - lots of foot traffic as it's above "I-95" On one of our Escape cruises, Deck 13 Fwd ... didn't realized that the MC is right behind/next to the Fwd elevators ... again, 2 sets of double doors. Nothing usual about it, walk by multile times each day while waiting for the elevators. We're among the first to notice above "average" activities during open/walk-in clinic hours ... hmmm. It turned out, a day or two later - we're on heightened protocols for surge/suspected stomach virus onboard (norovirus) ... nothing to freak out about at all. As far as I'm concerned, it's neutral, neither bad nor good, it is what it is. BTW, welcome to CC and cruising. If this is your first time sailing NCL, should you hear Code Alpha announced over the P.A. system, stand clear of the MC area as things will/is about to happen ... first responders/nurses might be flying out of there with their red backpack & AED, etc. and security holding one of the elevator. Step back and give them space to do their job.
dexddd Posted February 8, 2020 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2020 Yes, MKing has it right on the older ships, deck 4 has MC and a few cabins. Usually very quiet except at tender ports where it is used to get on tenders. Seen deck 4 paxs get backed up in hall trying to merge into lines.
