rdsqrl Posted April 26, 2020 #177 Share Posted April 26, 2020 How was the tea? The photos you took there literally caused me to gasp out loud -- just beautiful. Azores has now moved up to very high on my must-see-soon list.

galelynn Posted April 27, 2020 #179 Share Posted April 27, 2020 Just saw on the Princess site that the Regal is at sea headed to Southampton, England.😷 wondering if they will let them dock?

The band playing with him had 1 original member who started the new band Shot in the Dark . They backed him on his next album and made several videos with him including this one . Three music videos were created for the singles, with them featuring Stewart and backing band Shot in the Dark playing in a typical band set-up, although the "Mondo Sinistro" video also featured Stewart in some quirky restaurant scenes hitting on a young waitress (played by Cassandra Peterson, prior to her fame as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark). I had listened to Al in 1974 when I got out of the service and he had just released his Past , Present and Future album . I saw in in 1976 but Pat didn't want to go to that concert . We got a second chance to see him in 2015 at the Royal Albert Hall and he performed Past , Present and Future and The Year of the Cat albums in their entirety with most of the original band . Here they perform a great acoustic guitar duet on the song Nostradamus . And the song On the Border from the YOTC album Thanks for sharing these videos. If you go to youtube and search for "Al Stewart Year of the Cat" 1979; long version. It is the best I have seen. Cheers
AF-1 Posted April 27, 2020 #184 Share Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) The Azores is pretty. I used to stop there quite a bit when I was stationed in the Air Force. We would stop there going to and from Europe. The Air Force had a base there on the island Edited April 27, 2020 by AF-

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted April 27, 2020 Author #186 Share Posted April 27, 2020 A trip around the ship . The first photo stop is the Concerto Dining Room . It features anytime dining for breakfast , afternoon tea and late dinner . The main entrance is on the right side , but it does have a second entrance . As you can see here , some of the seating circles a central area . The central area is a private table surrounded by a wine cellar . And with the high chair in the first photo I guess babies are welcome . There are a number of paintings in the dining room of musicians performing in famous places in Europe like the Louvre in Paris . Or Peter the Great's throne room in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg . Which is one of our favorite museums .

And our last photo is from the entrance to Vines . Enjoyed your photos of the Regal--looks like you may have done what I did on our first cruise on the Royal--get up early before there are any other pax walking around <g>. I had watched the christening of the Royal by Princess Kate and they still had photo, etc. displays about that. We'd been on almost all of the older Princess ships and were wowed by the Royal! Much more elegant public areas although I didn't like the "new" casino (too little space between/around slots and table games) and "new" spa area. But the atrium is spectacular. Also enjoyed revisiting the Azores, so to speak. We've done a number of TAs and have stopped there several times. First time we did a tour similar to yours although I think we had a bit more sun. On subsequent visits, just walked around the port--love the Portuguese architecture similar to what one sees in Lisbon, visiting some of the churches and parks, etc. Edited April 27, 2020 by BarbinMich

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted April 28, 2020 Author #199 Share Posted April 28, 2020 Rewarded with a sunrise . We had a mostly sunny day with a high of 65 and a low in the upper 50's . Sailing up the Tagus River into Lisbon we see the Belem Tower . It was built in the 1500's . And then , the Monument to the Discoveries We then sailed under Lisbon's version of the Golden Gate Bridge . It was noisy as heard on this video clip: We also saw the large statue Christ the King towering above us . We were not alone The April the 25th Bridge
Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted April 28, 2020 Author #200 Share Posted April 28, 2020 After meeting with the small group and the guide we went for an overview of Lisbon from the Sao Jorge Castelo . We drove past a public square that looked so nice that I shot this photo threw the window . You can see the ghost reflection in the clouds . But we soon stopped there for some proper shots Got Coke ? It seems that trolleys , buses and trams converge here .
