Fastest way for a refund? Calling PvP in am

We were on the Pride and rebooked to the Magic in August.

 

she said that I can do

obc already have $700

carnival gift card 

credit card as I paid with gift cards and credit card 
there is 3 of us in our room my son will be 21 gratuitys are already paid for

Patience...there are alot of cruisers in front of you seeking refunds.  Last I've seen they may have hit cancellations of April that they are working on refunds now.

I called yesterday morning at 7am and had to hold for about 5 minutes. Told that since I had a casino promotion on the August cruise I had to call the casino number which she gave me. They opened at 8am so I called then and was on hold for about 10 minutes. The agent cancelled my Liberty cruise and transferred my deposit to our new booking on the Breeze for late Sept. She sent me an email and waited until I received it and it had the $1000 in OBC (already had OBC on that booking so she added the new OBC to it) and we were done in short order. She said if I had filled out the form in the Carnival email it would take several weeks to hear back from them. So glad I called instead. Plus the deposit on the Liberty was non-refundable, but she just transferred it to the new booking. I would have lost it if I cancelled the cruise online by myself.

 

She said it's best to call first thing when they open as the hold times get long in just a few hours and they had phone issues the other day when the email from Carnival arrived.

There is no fastest way....there are over 1 million cruisers affected...they are doing them in order of the date of the affected cruises.

Thanks you are right it’s just if I requested a gift card I would want it before the cruise. Just not sure that I would get it in time. Thinking I will do a credit card refund

You don't get to choose the form of your refund. It goes back to the same form you paid. So if you paid from cc and gift cards, you will get a refund of those amounts to your cc and a new gift card. You may or may not get it by August. I am still waiting on some of mine from our cancelled March cruise.

Booked a new cruise for August it is a lot less $ my PvP said I could choose which way I wanted the difference as I paid for my cruise with different forms of payment from discount carnival gift cards to a credit card. So I did not choose another gift card as not sure I would receive it in time

@ypcat is right.  Regardless of what your PVP said, you will get your refund in the same form of payment that you presented, in the same amounts. This is a legal requirement, not a Carnival choice.  The best thing for you to have done is applied those funds to your new cruise as OBC.  Then you would have been absolutely assured to have the funds available at the time of your new sailing.  It is May now, your new cruise is in August.  If you do receive your refund in time, it will be very close.

While you are correct, in this case, since she has overage and paid with multiple methods, they can choose up to the amount they paid using cc to get refunded.  Since she applied some of the amount to a new cruise, then she should be able to say that was the GC part, and refund the rest (up to the amount paid by cc on the original) back to a cc.

I am still waiting on gc for my 3/14 cruise that was cancelled, but many people got refunds to cc awhile ago.  If you have until August, in theory, you should be fine, but I wouldn't bet on it.
