Noordam or Nieuw Amsterdam For Alaska?

Which ship is better to do an Alaskan cruise/ And has anyone done the 18 day land/cruise on Holland America? How was is?

I have not been on Noordam but did spend 32 days on her sister Oosterdam.  And 24 days on Nieuw Amsterdam.  I would say either would be good.  Noordam is smaller, but since both have a wrap around promenade deck, so all is good.  EM

Is there route differences? If not, perhaps the only reason I would take N. Amsterdam would be more food and entertainment choices.

Been on both ships and can't say I have a preference; either will be fine, so long as NA has stopped having difficulties with an azipod (repaired earlier this year).  For me, the crew generally defines a ship and can make an old tired ship great or a fine new ship awful.

We’ve  been on both and would pick the NA for the tamarind.

Both ships are excellent vessels and well suited for an Alaskan itinerary.  If there are differences in the itineraries offered, that probably would be a determining factor for me.
