Vietnam is currently experiencing an increase in cases.

They have detected this as a hybrid which is a combination of the variants first identified in UK and India.

This was precisely the concern expressed due to a shortage of vaccine supply to the majority of countries around the world.

It is being reported the US will donate 500 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

75% through the Covax program and 25% directly to countries.

These will go to the many countries in need.

200 million this year and 300 million in the first half of next year.

Source: CNN.

This is very good news and hopefully a sign of further announcements from the upcoming G7 meeting.

This sounds great but it requires an appropriation from Congress. No price tag yet. If he plans on diverting funds from other programs, to cover the costs, there has been no discussion of where those funds are being diverted from.

This in no way implies I disagree with the plan, just saying the President can only spend what Congress appropriated. More to come.

But those of you on the USA are further ahead than Canada. We still have a fair amount of our population that still do not have their first dose of vaccine and we are being told we will not get our second dose until August. We received our first dose last month.

I believe we may be ahead of the US now in first doses and speeding up with 2nd doses.

According to CBC(Canadian Broadcasting Corporation)

Region Total doses given Percentage of people given at least one dose Percentage of people fully vaccinated

Canada
30,228,660
65.00%
14.42%

It depends on what ages are included (New York Times, today):

US  Total Population:  At least 1 dose - 53%;  Fully vaccinated - 44%

US 12 and older:  At least 1 dose 62%; Fully vaccinated: 52%

US 18 and older:  At least 1 dose- 65%; Fully vaccinated - 55%

The older the population, the higher the percentages

Do you know the age range that is included in Canada's numbers, or is it total population?

That was total population of Canada.  We are behind in 2nd doses because we followed Britain's lead in getting as many first doses as possible and delaying 2nd doses up to 16 weeks.  That was because we had delays of delivery in the beginning.  Delivery of vaccine has improved a lot so they are now speeding up second doses to try to get ahead of the Delta variant.
