Avidtravler Posted June 25, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2021 Just learned about RCI's non-mandatory requirement that everyone must show proof of vaccination before boarding. I think they came up with a great work around. They made it voluntary to show your vaccination card before boarding. When you show the card you get a wrist band that indicates you have been vaccinated. This wrist band allows unrestricted access to all venues. Special areas of the dining room. Best showroom seats. Special access to the casino. And whatever else they can come up with. I personally would not want to have dinner with someone not wearing a wristband. This voluntary approach should get around Florida's Gov's rule of not asking for vaccination status. Wondering what else Regent might exclude you from if you are not wearing a wrist band. Any ideas and what you think of the this work around.
mrlevin Posted June 25, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2021 It is a great policy. RCCL also makes those that don't show proof pay for their own testing; have frequent testing, and otherwise make it a miserable experience. I think it would work great on Regent. No specialty restaurants, no indoor bar access, and no coffee connection would also keep those not wanting to show proof off of the ship yet satisfy the "law" with respect to mandate.
Rare ronrick1943 Posted June 25, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2021 I couldn’t agree more with those comments. For us I agree mostly that I don’t want to be near anyone that hasn’t been vaccinated. Of course you know those people will say they are bring single out by not getting a band.
DatawCruiser Posted June 25, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2021 There is nothing I hate more than having to wear a wristband. Not a good solution for me.
Grandmaanne7 Posted June 25, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2021 I think that RCCL has come up with a very clever solution. I don't particularly enjoy wearing a wristband, however, it would be a very small price to pay to feel safe on a ship. I would prefer if Regent stuck with the 100% vaccination policy but would not cancel if they adopted RCCL's approach.

Reminds me of our stays at cheap all-inclusive resorts from days gone by.....NOT my idea of luxury.
mrlevin Posted June 25, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2021 Just a threat to keep the unvaccinated (or won't voluntarily show their card) off the ship; if all vaxxed then no wristbands needed for anyone.

That’s the problem—not all will be vaccinated if Regent moves to a corporate policy for the company. If Regents sticks to what they now telling cruisers not a problem (No wristbands, which would be better for all).
SWFLAOK Posted June 25, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 25, 2021 And when one of the unvaccinated tests positive onboard, what happens? Does that mean the end of stopping in ports? I don't want to spend a very large amount of money to take a long cruise without going ashore. We chose our next Regent cruise based on places we wanted to visit. If we can't visit them, we don't want to go on the cruise. And the more unvaccinated people onboard makes it more unlikely that we won't be leaving the boat.

Of course there would not be any unvaccinated onboard but NCLH will satisfy FL and TX law.
