You may want to consider a pre-covid test.   I did a home test before i got on the flight to Seattle.  They also moved up testing times to deal with the prior long wait times, so perhaps things will go more smoothly on the 14th.

Bird, as many before me have said, you Rock in a major way.  I dont think i have seen a post about the Casino.  What is your impression of it?  Is it fully functional or are many machines turned off for social distancing?    I board tomorrow at 9am!

There are no social distancing limitations anywhere on the ship. The casino is fully functional. It is a typical Alaskan crowd, less active than a Caribbean cruise. And a lot fewer total passengers. The Encore, like the Bliss, has a separate enclosed smoking casino, so the main floor is smoke free.

For folks with NCL transfers (highly recommend combination of transfers and Port Valet).

Note: there is little to no drop-off pick up space at the Bell Street Terminal. If you are thinking about Uber, be prepared to chase your car down the street.

This may have been covered…but will ask again (sorry).

We are staying at the marriott….and we pre-registered online with the testing company.  We have an early testing time.

Can we just go downstairs, get tested, and then go across the street with our luggage to get on board?  Or….do we have to check in across the street, and then come back to get tested?

My wife uses oxygen, and I don’t want her to have to walk across the street, only to have to come back to be tested, and then go back across the street again!!!

Anybody who stayed at the marriott last week or is staying there now and knows how it will all work.

THANKS!!

Mark

So,,,, while the water is heated, with temps in the 50’s, there is not much demand for being in the pool. Hot tubs and water slides are busy. I don’t think that anyone cares about younger adults in the pool.

The pool water is heated?  You sure about that Bird?

Thanks for posting this (and the other disembark instructions).  I'll be doing this soon.  We travel light and have little need for doing the whole "leave luggage outside room and find it in the terminal" routine.  If I have (for example, using your posted info) a 1:00 flight out of SeaTac and wish to carry all bags ourselves, do we ignore the "self-assist" time and just apply pink tags to all bags and carry them directly to the bus?  Thanks.

Any suggestions as to a good place near the pier to have someone (not Uber) pick you up?

We've had our son pick us up at pier 66 in the past and just had him park in the garage for a short time and then communicated via phone/text.  Costs a bit, but worth it in my opinion.

7 miles. $8 roundtrip shuttle. 25 min each way.

Today, there was only one HAL ship at the downtown dock.

Yesterday, there were no ships at the downtown Juneau docks.

To rub salt in the wound, our ShoreEx drove through town on our return and the driver would not drop us off. He said that it was NCL policy. So,,, after being at creek street, it was 25 minutes back to Ward Cove and 25 minutes (and $8) to return.

That honestly stinks.

We are on the September 4 sailing of the Encore. We always carry our bags and will need to get from Pier 66 to the Ferry Terminal. Cabs were doing a flat rate of $40 and we're rather frugal. It is about a mile so it seemed walkable - but two years ago it just about killed my wife and I (both seniors). We need a better option this time. Is there any reasonable way to get to the Ferry from the cruise dock?

Go to the Edgewater or Marriott and tip the bellman to call you a cab?

So, there is a walking “trail” between the Wilderness Landing and the Adventure Landing (the old cruise dock). The trail is not paved and it is a bit E9B17C9D-AA16-467C-BD16-C6EC571D830F.thumb.png.36a7cddd18d31d8be655fbd1625b69d4.png1978E1A9-4D7A-46D5-B96F-2352EBDDC7FD.thumb.jpeg.1ad121fa82c1761b3208d194794b2a61.jpeghilly. On the day we were there, it was raining the the trail was a bit muddy and slippery on spots.

This will be perfect! It's all we need.  Thank you

Bird, thank you for all the great information.  We cruise tomorrow.  Bob

Safe and uneventful cruising. Today, the Captain essentially said “it sucked for you guys, but promised a smoother Covid testing tomorrow.”

Bird, do you mind posting the room service menus? Or it the same stuff as always?

Breakfast in bed or out on the balcony watching Alaska could. It be easier. Fill out your hang tag and it will be delivered to your door.
