In Europe most ports are a drive or a train from the city they claim you are docking in (Rome is a great example).  Why should the cruise lines pay here when they never had to in Europe?  Seems like an odd demand you are making.

Agree....Rome and Florence require a 1 hour bus ride to get from port to city.  Barcelona was a fee to get from port into Columbus  statue.  We have been in both Ketchikan and Icy Strait.....don't mind paying for shuttle and if you don't want to cruise then don't .  We'll be in Alaska on NCL in spring of 2021 God willing.

Thanks Bird for the detailed tour of the Escape first sailing to Alaska.  Excellently done and makes us ready even more for our return to Alaska in 2021!   Don't figure why so many people are so angry.....we all survived and are ready to go again!

Is the Adults only enforced in the larger pool?

So,,,, while the water is heated, with temps in the 50’s, there is not much demand for being in the pool. Hot tubs and water slides are busy. I don’t think that anyone cares about younger adults in the pool.

While no one wants to be unwell  while on vacation, the medical center is open in the morning and in the afternoon for walk-ins and available on the phone 24/7. If you need some first aide, vending machines are available.

They charge for a band-aid? I've gone to Guest Services in the past and gotten ones for free . . .

Bird… thank you so much for all your excellent information on the encore. We are usually princess travelers but taking the encore the week of the 28th for two special occasions. Looking forward to it. Most of  the excitement for us is exploring a new ship and seeing what it has to offer. So I skipped over most of the pictures and the menus and the wine list because I like to be surprised when I get on board. But so nice of you to take your vacation to do this for everybody🤗🤗

Anyone else nervous about the pre-cruise Covid test? We’ve been vaccinated for several months… Haven’t been around anyone with Covid but I’m so nervous that we will get there and test positive😩😩😩.

Yes!! You never know. I will be anxious until I get the negative results.

Bird, as many before me have said, you Rock in a major way.  I dont think i have seen a post about the Casino.  What is your impression of it?  Is it fully functional or are many machines turned off for social distancing?    I board tomorrow at 9am!

I don't recall if this is the topic where it was discussed, but the Encore is now back to Green status.  Maybe it was a crew member and never any passengers.  With passengers on board it only takes one crew case to go directly to Yellow.

That didn't last long, lol 😉

This really stinks.  It is a 7 mile bus ride to town.  Thought we had it bad in Juneau with the AJ dock, but now we have yet another bus ride to town.  Hoonah has about a 1 mile walk to town. You can't really get around this one. 7 miles is a bit too far to walk.  Packed into busses and the waits are miserable.  I won't be looking forward to this.

wow now I am glad I switched to another cruise line.  And if ships arrive in Juneau at 6am. they will more than likely have rain and clouds.   I was supposed to be on Encore but switched for various reasons.  One was the arrival times at some ports.  But the Gondola looked nice.

But Ketchikan is only good if you dock in town.

The reports I have seen indicate that it is about seven miles from Ward Cove into town.

oh my guess they all have to bus then.  I mean I like docking in town so I will stick to other cruise lines then for this port.  Still I will get to do Encore in 2023 through the Panama Canal (god willing)

Have you had a chance to find out whether either Bong or Clarense (Chocolate Cowboy) are on board?

Thank you for taking the time todo all the postings.

I hope the rest of your cruise goes smoothly.

Clarence has stated on his FB page that he was joining Norwegian Joy in July.
