PLEASE make sure 😃

Isn't it amazing the hoops and bars we're prepared to go through and over to be able to cruise!  We're certainly die-hards, aren't we?!

I've got the Travel Data Quarantine Regulations form downloaded to my favourites for our transit through Schiphol on our way to Barcelona in October.  Getting the rest of our document ducks in a row as well.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Hmmm... I'm reading it a little differently.  I admit it is a little confusing (maybe related to the translation to English), so I could easily be wrong, but it appears that if you register your vaccination information on their website, no quarantine is required.  Here's two locations where I see this:

From: https://www.germany.info/us-en/covid-19/2321562 (3rd bullet point)

Please consider the following when travelling to Germany from the U.S.,  Sunday, August 15th, 0:00 CET onwards:

a)      Travelers who are full vaccinated:

  • Please fill out the digital registration on entry at https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de and carry the confirmation with you when entering the Germany. The confirmation will be checked by the carrier and may also be checked by the Federal Police within the framework of its responsibilities as a border control agency.
  • Travelers older than 12 years of age must carry with them a proof of full vaccination and, if demanded by the carrier, present such proof for the purpose of carriage. This proof must be uploaded via the travel portal at https://einreiseanmeldung.de
  • Travelers who have not uploaded their vaccination status at https://einreiseanmeldung.de must make their way directly to their home upon arrival and remain isolated there for a period of ten days (home quarantine). In such cases quarantine at home may be ended prematurely if proof of vaccination is submitted via the Federal Republic of Germany entry portal https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de.
  • Please additionally inform yourself prior to departure of any possible covid-related requirements of your respective airline.

And from: https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/faqs/EN/topics/civil-protection/coronavirus/coronavirus-faqs.html#doc13797140bodyText3 (See the bolded, italic section)

Do people entering Germany have to go into quarantine?

If you have spent time in a high-risk area or area of virus variant of concern, you are required to travel directly to your home or other appropriate accommodation immediately after arriving in Germany and to stay there for ten days (quarantine). You are not permitted to receive any visitors. Violations constitute an administrative offence and may be punished by a fine of up to 25,000 euros.

A list of current high-risk areas and areas of variant of concern can be found at website of the Robert Koch Institute

Travellers who have spent time in high-risk areas must remain in quarantine for ten days. If, before the ten days have elapsed, you submit proof of vaccination or of recovery from COVID-19 to https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de, you may end your quarantine at the time you submit the necessary proof. Alternatively, after the fifth day in quarantine, you may reduce the quarantine period by submitting proof of a negative test result. Children under the age of 12 who are entering Germany from high-risk areas may end quarantine automatically after five days even without submitting proof of a negative test result.

Travellers who have spent time in areas of virus variant of concern must remain in quarantine for 14 days. In this case, there is no option to end quarantine sooner, even for people who have been vaccinated or who have recovered from COVID-19.

The quarantine requirement will remain in effect at least until 30 September 2021.

Just to add that a friend was due to fly from the USA into Germany today en route to Austria for business purposes.  He has been told by the embassy that the planned overnight stay in Germany would mean quarantine and therefore at the last minute had to change all flight plans to fly via Iceland direct to Austria.  He is fully vaccinated so that is not an exception to the rule.

We will be  fly on October 18 from Italy.

Currently the Dutch do not see Italy as a high risk country for covid when it comes to entering the Netherlands.  It does depend where else you have been in the preceding 10 days.  If it is only Italy you should be OK but things change fast so keep checking.

I have been reading that Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam is now requiring US passengers to quarantine even if they are vaccinated and have a negative COVID test.  This appears to be the case even if you are transiting to another airport such as Venice to catch the Eurodam on October 6th.  If true, this will ruin the travel plans of MANY of us!!!!

You can transit through as long as not in Amsterdam for more than 12 hours.
