Toledosfinest Posted January 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2022 Wife and I just returned from a week on the NCL JOY. We arrived Jan. 8th, and proceeded to let NCL take our covid test at no charge. After 15 minutes with both having a Negative result, we waited upstairs for 15 more minutes, then onto the ship. 'The ship was about half full with approx. 1700 passengers on it. What a great way to travel. No lines or big crowds. NCL had that ship spotless and were constantly cleaning and providing cleaning stations for our hands everywhere. We did have to wear our masks except in our room, and outside by the pools. At any restaurant, once we seated, most took off their masks. When we stopped at Honduras, Belize, Costa Maya, and Cozumel, we were all informed we needed to wear our masks. We ate our 2 specialty restaurants at Cagneys and at the Q Barbeque Texas restaurant, and both were amazing. We mostly ate at the Buffett for other meals and the buffet style was open. About every 15-25 minutes, employees would change out the spoons and serving utensils. Overall the food was very good at the buffet. We also ate one day at the Local restaurant, and that was also very good. At the end of the cruise, we did walk off ( Carried our own luggage) and were the first 2 persons off the ship at 7:15am. No Covid testing at the end of the cruise. We never heard or seen anyone get sick on our cruise. We heard that floor 13 was blocked off for persons who had signs of Covid, but never saw the floor. Entertainment was ok, but no big production shows. We did have a couple comedians and a few singers during the week that were pretty good. On our last night, we had a Beatles Tribute band that was very good. Overall we are happy we were able to take this cruise. NCL did a wonderful job keeping everyone safe. Just remember when you take your next NCL cruise, that you will hear the song Washie, Washie in your head for many weeks after you get home. 13
Calvin Posted January 17, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2022 It sounds like a great cruise! I'd miss the production shows but, nothing beats unlimited food and drink for me.
gmbhardy Posted January 17, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2022 We were scheduled to be on that cruise but had to cancel because our son tested positive for Covid a few days before our departure. Glad to heat you had a great time. We have another cruise scheduled on the Joy in a couple weeks. Holding our breath that we will be able to make that one. phillygwm Posted January 17, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2022 Just curious, given other threads about Aft noise/vibration, where were you located? Did you notice anything while in the back of the ship?
ajs922 Posted January 17, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2022 Happy you had a good cruise. We were on the Joy the first week in December (their 3rd cruise since starting up again). We did get to see all the shows and the like. Ut's a great ship and NCL does know how to keep it as clean as possible.

We had to do the same thing (ours was due to a death in the family); we are scheduled to go on the same cruise February 5th. Fingers crossed!!!! travelwide Posted January 18, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2022 You mentioned the crew changed the utensils in the buffet. Were you able to serve yourself or did staff serve you? Hope your answer is the latter! 🤔

Perfect location.

No vibrations or noise either time, just a view of the ship’s beautiful wake.

The Joy has some serious issues with vibration from just aft of the forward elevators, all the way to the back of the ship. Believe me, hubby and I checked it out with a stroll from the front of the ship to the very back when we were scouting out where we wanted our cabin changed. We had a gorgeous aft facing view on deck 14 and gave it up to be forward of the forward elevators for a smooth as silk ride. Walking from the front of the ship to the back, it is very evident where the vibration begins and gets extremely bad at the very back.
