Demographic on "Spring Break" cruise?

I'm choosing between the March 13, 2022, six-night sailing on Caribbean Princess (Sunday to Saturday).  I see it referred to as a Spring Break cruise.  I like a somewhat peaceful atmosphere on ship - seeing/hearing a few young families here and there wouldn't be too bad, but I'm sure that I wouldn't enjoy the college "spring break" atmosphere.

 

My other option is a four-night on Royal, Western Caribbean itinerary, which  I figure will be less spring-breakish since it embarks on a Thursday and returns on Monday.

I would stay away from any cruises sailing during spring break.  There is always the potential on any cruiseline for a frat party atmosphere.  The shorter the cruise the higher the risk.

Spring break times on Princess tend to attract families when children are not in school.

I would think the shorter the cruises on RC would have more youth.

If possible avoid these  and Easter pre and after weeks.

My wife is  teacher, been on many spring break cruises.  I mean, there are more families with small kids, but each ship has a designated adults only area, and we usually hang out there.  It's never been an issue.

 

College kids I think prefer Carnival or Norwegian.

The average college student isn't thinking about Princess when it comes to spring break.

If they do, they'll opt for the shorter/cheaper cruise.

Hmm, although it seems logical that the college crowd opts for short cruises, but I'm skeptical that they'd do so if it embarks on a Thursday and returns on Monday.

This is correct I agree. They either go on Carnival or visit here in Ft. Lauderdale or South Beach

Ok, putting aside the college spring-breakers, would one expect the March 13 six-night Caribbean Princess cruise to have a lot of kids?

March 14-18 is Public school (K-12) Spring break across Canada.  All public schools and a lot of private schools have kindergarten to gr 12 kids off that week.  
 

Back a few years ago we did two 7 day cruises B to B.  The week before the break and the week of the break ( we pulled the kids out a week early so we could go for 2 weeks).  
 

The first week was mostly adults with less than 100 under 18's on board. 

 

The second week was packed with families.  The kids clubs were over registered at capacity.  

 

Even with the covid travel restrictions this year, there is a huge demand for travel from our Canadian winter.  
Our kids are being vaxxinated.  

I would think that any cruise during our March break will have a lot of families on board.  

Post secondary schools in Canada have February breaks.

I'm guessing that makes my  21 yr old son not average but (IMHO) "above" average since he'll be on the March 13 Caribbean Princess sailing for his college spring break.  Granted he is going with his Dad and not a large college party group 🤣.

US school holidays vary greatly. But, I think there tends to be more around Easter which is mid April. I do think a family would more likely book the week long cruise rather than a weekend cruise.

A lot Florida schools are also out on spring break that week, another reason to expect a lot of kids and families.
