Ok, so I'm a Royal Caribbean snob but......

I thought he did a good job, I think if you're going to all that trouble, though, you might want to proofread your text.

The thing that stands out is that it was during a storm and the ports were changed, the excursions cancelled because of the weather. What happens with the other lines? The exact same thing.

He had a few honest gripes, but most would have been the same on any other line.

I've been on 6 CCL cruises and never once have they closed down the restaurants while in port. The casinos, yes, but not the restaurants.

I believe this gentleman exaggerated a little, and I think a 20% off coupon was fitting compensation.

I hope everyone else on board also got this compensation...okay maybe 15% because this guy deserves a little more for all his hard work!

i need to make video like that fo bob , we just did our first and last ccl cruise this month on the pride the ship was not the same as our rccl ships we had the huge wrap around balcony on yhe corner aft and it was great except for all the soot that never got cleaned up the ship vibrated like a 7.0 earthqauke and the staff and costomer service people were rude , and seemed bothered by any and all requests. the food was the biggest suprise of all after everything we had been through it was absolutley wonderful . maybe ccl should open resteraunts and forget the cruise buiseness.the only thing they have going for them is to find cruisers who have never cruised rccl and they wont look so horrible. I could have spent that money on another rccl cruise.

20%...can you imagine how far that video is going to go on the web? They would have been smart to offer him more and ask him to take the video down.

I own an ad agency/public relations firm. So I can almost guarantee that yes, the guy did the video on his own meaning he is in the video production business. It is actually pretty easy to do what he did, even in your own home.

Where the heck is Progresso???

One guy's cruise experience is antectodal and you can't use one case against Carnival to say that all people would feel the same on all cruises. I'm pretty sure Carnival does well and has no trouble filling their ships so they must be doing something right for someone!

Mind you I'm pretty loyal to RCCL but it's not because I think other lines are bad - its because I'm so satisfied by RCCL and think they are so good, so why look elsewhere? I think the only reason I'd cruise another line would be for an itinerary that RCCL doesn't offer (Asia/South Pacific for example).

This guy needs to get a life. Some of the things that he was complaining about were not the cruise lines fault.

He could have done what many people do and booked his excursions ahead of time on line. This would have eliminated the TV and waiting in line issue.

Progresso - I did on line research on each port before I ever got on the ship. I knew that Progresso did not have much to offer. Was it my favorite stop, definately not. But was my day a terrible waste, NO. I did some shopping at the little flea market in town and got some GREAT bargains. All of my vacation souvenirs came from Progress.

Debarkation taking so long - not sure why that happened, but I am sure it was not something that was done to make it unpleasant for him. HELLO, this delayed everyone coming and going on that day. What about the poor people who where waiting to board....

This guy is trying to make it sound like they looked at him and said "Let's Ruin His Vacation"

I have cruised with Carnival. I had no problems with them.. Had a great week with no problems. If my vacation time would happen during the eastern route I would travel them again.

And lastly, would he be happy with a Hawaii vacation from them, probably not.

A % off sounds pretty much par for the course. We took 3 cruises on CCL. After the first I wrote them a nice letter with some things they could improve on and they sent us a 10% off coupon for all members of the family for next cruise and some bonvoyage gifts per cabin.

After that cruise I wrote again telling them how hard it was for them to honor the issues and it was like pulling teeth getting the p[romised gifts, so they sent me a 15% off for the next one. So we went on the third...oh my...this time it took 4 days of emailing while on the ship to get the photo coupons that were promised us.... So when I wrote them again when I got home, they wrote to me saying they have tried and tried but they hope I will return some day. Since then i have taken 2 RCL .... someday...maybe...the only reason why i went again was that 15% off 5 people with 2 cabins, and $120.00 photo coupons was worth it...so i thought. Getting them was too much of a drudgery while on board...even though I had letters confirming what I was to get.

I click on the link get to the site video starts to load and then play then after only a few seconds the screen goes black and I'm asked if I want to share the video or watch again. Heck, I wanted to see it.

Really sad he and his family did not have a good cruise but it is a roll of the dice......bad weather causes itinerary changes and excursion changes etc...

my co-worker just returned from her first trip to Kauai....rained every day, sun never came out...highest temp was 78 and they never got in the ocean, couldn't even take tours without getting wet.....she won't get any money back.

These problems can happen on any ship and you have to go with this in mind.

I personally feel CCL does not care about repeat passengers because they get so many first time cruisers....still quite an untouched market...

Not a CCL fan, but just about every line had weather related itinerary changes during and after Wilma. They were well published - and were readily accessible from the CC site as well as the sites of the individual lines.

This guy is supposed to be a cruise veteran. If he is bright enough to make a video like this, wouldn't you think he would be able to check on any impact on his cruise?

I just read on another thread here that most port days the dining rooms are closed on the RCI ships.

Maybe Carnival has started doing the same thing?

Not as far as I've witnessed......

I watched the video. It was funny, but I'm confused. I've never been on a CCL ship.

He said that his port was changed from NO to Galveston. He didn't seem to be blaming that on CCL. Obviously NO was in no shape for cruisers. He never said if he used a TA or booked directly with CCL. Either way, he should have been informed of at least the possibility of itinerary changes due to hurricanes. Another thing is he thought he had booked an oceanview cabin on deck 7, but found out he had a cabin on deck 2 when he got onboard. He never explained how that happened - TA or CCL oversight? He booked a guarantee cabin? If I had really booked a deck 7 and ended up with a deck 2, I would be angry. Is there no price difference in the cabins on CCL? He also complains about not being able to book excursions. Does CCL not offer advance online booking like RC? He also mentions that nothing was open at the first port stop, but I never heard him say what that stop was. Costa Maya or Belize? Those are the only two places close to that area that I know about. I had RC cancel Grand Cayman once after a hurricane. I was annoyed with them, but not for the cancellation. They told us until the day before the cruise that we were going to Belize instead so I made excursion arrangements. The day before we were to leave I checked the RC site and discovered that they changed to Costa Maya. I had to cancel my Belize excursion and scramble to find something in Costa Maya. Finally, I am still not sure why they could only let 50 people off the ship at a time. I've never heard of that as a problem.

After every cruise I go on I write a letter to the company telling them the good and the bad things about my cruise experience. I do this for 2 reasons. 1) so that the corporation gets to hear complaints from the customers 2) to praise the people that make my cruise enjoyable (i also send emails to their bosses on the ship). Im sure a major cruise line gets thousands of letters a week, and the video was a great idea. Many of his problems were petty and foolish but I think the corporation should forward his tape to the boat itself and let the staff there handle it. Cabin steward should be yelled at for allowing the stains to go unfixed. Sports people should be blamed for the net (it didnt happen over night). etc

I sent a letter to the voyager of the seas immediately after they started cruising out of nj. A year after that I went back on the same cruise and they had fixed almost all the issues I had. I even spoke with the captain and a few big shots on the boat about the problems they previously had and how they fixed them.

I think his video was funny as hell and i bet carnival liked it too

Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh WOW! OH WOW!

You know this happens on other lines too right? ;)

I especially thought the "Titanic" song during the rough weather is funny but "The Perfect Storm" at sea? LOL!

"Hawaii Bob" LOL!!!!!!!!!! Oh my I think Diet Coke just came out my nose! Oh my.

That was great. If I had read it I would have been saying, "Well it was during hurricane season" but it was so creative and entertaining I hope he does get a freebie out of it. Seriously and I am the first to say, "stop whining you had a cruise".

It was a very funny video. But there are a lot of holes in the story. Especially about the 50 people at a time being let off the ship. If you figure about 2000 on the ship and they let 50 off every 15 minutes it would of taken about 10 hours to get everyone off.

A couple days ago I got a marketing call from Carnival. Guy said, hey I saw you visited the website recently! (perhaps a month ago but now I know why they won't let you access unless you register and sign in). Said can I help you plan your next vacation?

I said well, I already have 2 cruises booked this year with Royal Caribbean. I think I took a bit too much satisfaction telling him that :D
