Seeing whales on New England Cruise

Recommended Posts

We have not but have only taken 3 NE/Canada cruises - one in Summer, two in the Fall (we did see whales in our one Alaska cruise as well as in Iceland).

There is a pretty high likely hood of seeing whales on that cruise.  I lived in the Boston South Shore area for ~65 years and whale watching was a thing all summer.

We didn't see any on our NE/Canada cruise in Oct 2018, but we have seen whales in the Southern Caribbean a couple of times in Feb one year and just this past April. As pp said, waterspouts and a couple of tails.

Wife and I are seriously considering one of these. We are AVID whale watchers. We have booked trips just to whale watch. (Alaska and Mexican Riveria). We have also gone to different regions to whale watch (non cruise).

Your best bet to see whales is thru an excursion in Bay of Fundy,  super rich marine life.

But if you want to see whales from the ship. book a DEC/JAN on a Mexican Riveria itinerary. Going into Los Cabos Bahia San Lucas is prime with whales there for mating season. Same goes for Bahia de Banderas in Puerto Vallarta also prime for mating season.

Here are 2 males showing off . All pictures from Puerto Vallarta. (also sorry for hijacking this with Whale Pics.. 🙂 )

Than we had this lovely misses checking us out..

This Male also was curious as to what the heck we were doing.

Finally got bored of us and sailed off in pursuit of happiness.
