@bnurickThank you so much for all your wonderful posts and photos!  They have helped me a great deal in planning and also in enhancing my excitement and anticipation of my cruise.

I hate to be demanding, but could you possibly post the daily for Friday, Day 6?  I don't think I missed it, but, if I did, just point me to where I could find it.  I don't want to miss a thing on this virtual cruise!

Thanks again - you have made my whole week!

Thanks so much for taking us along on your anniversary trip @bnurick!

We board a month from tomorrow to celebrate a BIG birthday!

A question on the Veuve dinner. I had an allergy to raw fish and roe. Do you know if it is possible to get a substitute for those courses?

Lobster night in Luminae is our favorite.  The main dining menu is available when in Luminae on the older ships.  The amuse bouche was a watermelon, mozzarella and balsamic bite.   Next, I ordered the double baked blue cheese soufflé.  My entree was both the lamb and the lobster and my dessert was the Luminae Baked Alaska.  My first course came from the main dining room menu and it was ok…lots of cheese and very rich.  The lamb and lobster were excellent and I enjoyed the baked Alaska dessert, even though I was unsure I would like it.  The macarons were a nice touch to end the meal.  You are able to order extra lobster tails if you would like more. Photos are below.  Enjoy!!

Thank you DisneyJen!  I hope your big birthday cruise is awesome. At the dinner one person had a food allergy and they substituted. I would, however, tell them at the time of booking so their planning provides a non-rushed alternative.  Cheers!

@Jim_Iain you mentioned on an earlier comment getting to know the crew. Here is my list I’ve made this cruise.

Retreat Host: Alfred was amazing. Very literal and punctual. Standard of care was very very high.

Stateroom Attendant: Edgar works very well with Alfred. They had all requests coordinated together.

Cellar Masters: Ayu went above and beyond on my port wine request.

Retreat Lounge Bartender: Deni has been a pleasure. Tries to track down requests. Coordinated Martini Bar orders as it’s a tight sitting venue.

Tuscan Grill: Vimal as Sommelier and Ozan as server were a great pair.

Ship Cellar Master: Enrique is one of the best we’ve encountered. Made sure certain wine requests were managed and decanted hours before arrival.

Best of luck with your sailing.

Brian

PSA for Summit Bermuda: Its is 8:42AM and we just cleared customs and are beginning the disembarking process. Need to create a morning plan as there is A LOT of waiting around.  We are used to being able to disembark much earlier as we usually cruise out of Florida.  The announcement says to wait for further instructions on luggage…

…so the ship 🚢 doesn’t dock until around 8AM which creates a wait for luggage 🧳 to be processed. The lines to get through customs is very long. You can opt for a “porter” guy with cart 🛒 for bags and they will expedite you to the front of the line. We were one of the last to get off because our flight is not until 345PM.  We arrived at EWR ✈️ at 1100AM with no traffic. Hope this helps, as it was a little confusing.

Cameron has pictures from our final dining at Sushi on Five 🍣 . We changed this up as we were stuffed from all our prior dining.  😂 Cheers from EWR!

Safe travels @bnurick!

We will be driving from to and from the port so there will be no rush to disembark for us.

Were you able to wait in the Retreat? If so were they offering snacks and beverages?

Thanks again!

Yes, the Retreat Lounge is open with a continental breakfast, however, it is crowded.  We opted to drop off our bags there and head to Luminae at 745AM just before it closes.  We were there until they cleared passengers carrying their own bags.  At that point the Retreat Lounge was fairly empty.  Us and another couple waited until “last call” to be escorted off the ship by Mar.

From there you can see the Customs cluster.  BTW, we tried to get an Uber forever.  Finally tried Lyft and it was immediate.

Hope this helps!  Off topic, we are headed to Victoria & Albert’s on their second night of reopening.  Guessing you’re Disney fanatics too!

I noticed that disembarcation in Cape Liberty was much later than it usually is in Florida and seemed to be quite disorganized.  I wonder why?  Since I had an afternoon flight, no biggie.  We waited until they kicked us out of the Retreat.  At that point, had no trouble getting an Uber to the airport.

@bnurickThanks again for the great, detailed information and photos.  I'm going to miss reading about your trip each day - when is your next cruise (so I have something to look forward to - after my own cruise of course)?

Thanks Barb!  We have Jan 2023 10 nights Southern Carribean next on the Edge!

Agreed!  We waited as long as possible too.  It felt like going from peace and happiness to disorganized chaos….  Our flight is late afternoon so it didn’t matter much to us either.  Just the first time navigating through.

Thanks again Brian!

V&A is one of our favorite restaurants! Many moons ago my DH held my 49th birthday party in the private dining room with our family and friends. So glad it has reopened! Enjoy!

Looking forward to coming along on you fun vacation.   We will be sailing on Summit in August so may pick you brain on who the Retreat Hosts and Retreat Manager are.

Have a wonderful trip and if you have time take the Ferry to St. George.    It is both a scenic boat ride but a much quieter town than Hilton.

Did you mean Hamilton?

Nope... not big on Hamilton.

In my opinion St George is the place to go unless you want the same old duty free shops an expensive shops.

St. George-

What is St George Bermuda known for?

The town, a number of forts, and historic sites around it are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll find picturesque cottages, quaint lanes and narrow alleyways scattered around King's Square. Notable sights include the Bermuda Old State House from 1620, the Old Rectory from 1699 and St. Peter's Church, Their Majesties Chappell, one of the oldest churches in the Western Hemisphere.

@LMHSRN Cameron and I talked about what we would do if we went on this itinerary again.  Here would be our preferred plan:

Day 1: Early taxi to Woody’s for a fish sandwich.  After, taxi to St. George and ferry back.

Day 2: Taxi to Horseshoe Bay to get ahead of cruise ships.  Rent chairs and umbrella.  Taxi back.

Day 3: Ferry to Hamilton and do all day shopping and exploring.  We found some wines and champagnes we cannot find in the States.  Taxi back with our heavy purchases. (All aboard was 3:30pm so more reliable to to this on last day to insure you get back than St.George).

We would consider doing the shipwreck snorkel and nighttime shipwreck glass bottom again.  But would want to know seas conditions.

Hopes this helps with your planning.  Happy 4th of July!  Brian

First and most importantly: happy anniversary!!!!! 🎉 🥂

Second, thank you so much for this detailed review!  I’ve made several notes for our Bermuda sailing in a couple of weeks!

I share your love of the Veuve dinner and was so glad to hear it’s still being offered. We’ve had serious champagne supply chain issues in our area recently and it was starting to make me nervous about whether Celebrity might be having the same challenges.

Hoping I can convince my husband to sign up for it on our sailing!

@GenerationX Thank you for the kind note.  We put a lot of effort in this review as we had difficulty finding information for this itinerary, we had no experience with the island and wanted to contribute to CC.  I believe we actually found out about the Veuve dinner through one of your older reviews on the Edge (we loved our hospitality from Anastasiia too btw), so thank you!  Enrique handled the champagne for the dinner, so I would hunt him down first thing once you board 🙂.

Of note, in Hamilton, Goslings Liquor Store, on the corner of Front St/Queen St, had many varieties of Veuve we had at the dinner at close to stateside prices, not considering some we cannot even find stateside.  If we go back to Bermuda, we plan on buying those specific bottles and bringing them back with us.  We did find their inventory, once home, online at goslingslimited.com.

Enjoy your cruise!  -Brian and Cameron
