Anybody knows anything about GRand Princess still in port in Vancouver with only 2 lines aft and 2 bow tied up ?

She was due out 4;30pm but had started pulling away at 3;10pm..... then slowly reversed and docked back. Can't be a medical emergency as such incident in porrt are dealt with way quicker than that. A '' police '' incident'' unlikely due to no sign of  activities or police-type vehicles.  Strange.... Mechanical ? ( with all due respect, she IS already 24+++ years old.... )  Tks. Claude

Thanks for starting this thread.  I also was wondering.

She was to leave at 3:15 PM due to tides.  She missed that window.  Next low tide isn't until early morning.

A couple of passengers posted that it was "propulsion technical issues".  Whatever that means.  Is that the same as what the Crown had from the beginning of the season?  Does this mean this is it for the Grand for the rest of her cruises?  She is scheduled to make a TransPacific.  That's a long way to go with a broken system. She just came out of dry dock in April.

I'm on the Grand Princess Facebook group (and have a cruise leaving Vancouver on Sept. 26th).

Reports from passengers are that they lost the left bow thruster.   Apparently there was an over-correction made in Glacier Bay, resulting in a lot of dishes/food etc crashing to the floor.

According to the captain, the left propulsion is malfunctioning so they have contacted manufacturers remotely to try & fix it.

Appears to be moving since 2300pdt..... 15++ minutes ago....Agree with CRAT1v1.... it appears to be in too much a precarious shape to complete the current otherwise very creative itinerary ,then sailing all the way to Australia.....

The Grand is moving a little over 8 knots.  The Zuiderdam left on time and is doing 11 knots. Not sure if reduced speed is because of engine issues or inside passage.  Glad she is traveling under her own power.

Little blue dot at the bottom right corner of info insert is the Grand.

It sure seems that we hear of way more ship issues since the restart.  Propulsion issues are especially concerning, but toilet issues would not be too far behind in concern!

Latest update from the Captain:

Last night's interruption was caused by a deisel generator. He may have mention something to the effect that sometimes people and computers don't get along.

We are crossing thru the inside passage which is absolutely gorgeous country that is normally done in the dark.

We will have an added sea day tomorrow followed by a pushed back full day in Juneau, which had been scheduled for half day. We then get to Skagway a day late, and have Icy Straight Point removed from our ports of call.

We managed to cancel our whale watching in ISP, and have our car rental changed in Juneau. Time to relax and have a gin and juice.

@jeanandjimThank you so much for the update.  Sounds like an improved itinerary.  Yes, lucky you get to enjoy the inside passage during the day.  It's much narrower than I thought.  Lots of ship movements.  I wonder how you all fit.

Did Captain say if she if fixed or band aid applied?

You left when the tides were on the ebb (I think that's the right one).  But now low tide.  Were you up?
