what is the fall foliage look like right now?

When is the peak for the fall colors?  We start our cruise on Oct 16 ..... Is this too late?

You're definitely going to be on the late side.

It seems around where I am, leaves starting changing/falling earlier this year due to our extremely hot summer/lack of rain.

That's going to be really late. It's late under normal circumstances, but between the really dry summer and the hurricane hitting Atlanta Canada, there won't be much, if anything, left.

I live about 45 minutes north of Portland, 2 1/2 hours south of Bar Harbor. You might have some color around Portland, but probably not much else. Also our color isn't great this year due to the summer drought.

We just returned from a similar itinerary.  Everything we saw was still 100% green.

We were just told yesterday by our guide in Acadia that they expect colors to peak between 10/9 thru 10/15.  There is some change now

We just left Quebec yesterday and at the airport the foliage was stunning. Only a few days before we saw some color in certain spots but was not as vibrant as Oct 2. Most of our cruise from NYC to quebec (leaving Sept 19) saw very little color change, not until we got closer to Quebec was their more color and as stated yesterday at the airport looked to be peak colors.

I just came back from the Breakaway 10/02-10/08 and there was hardly any color change yet in what we saw.

We are on the same cruise (I assume if you are on the Breakaway). We booked this week because it was cheaper than the week prior and now I know why! haha. I typically research the heck out of things but my husband took the lead on booking this trip and I had NO idea that color would be done by Mid October. We'll know for next time, and I'm still very excited!

I think you are going to be fine, if not dead on for the best color.  We left Portland last week and color was just starting and we were told it was a couple of weeks from peak color.  Mid October should be peak this year.

I'm in southern NH, and it looks peak right now.
