I'm loving the plethora of stops in OZ, NZ and Japan.  Great itinary.

That was a big part of the appeal of this particular World Cruise.  Myster and I like to explore new places.  The number of opportunities to do that with this itinerary was amazing.  There would be 14 countries visited of which 3 would be new to us and 65 ports of which 35 would be new to us.  We have been very fortunate with travel.  We did our first World Cruise in 2016 and our second in 2019.  All digits and bendy bits are crossed that this leaky pipe dream is a go.

So it looks like packing will be quite simple:  just bring everything you own, since the various climates will require all of it by the end of the cruise!  🤣

If Myster heard you make that suggestion he would spit out his teeth (his real ones)!  🤣  We have four "wardrobe-like" closets in this apartment.  My garb takes up 3 of the closets.  With 2 of the closets having double bars (one over the other).  And that does not take into account the triple dresser and the top of the highboy.  I am an admitted clothes horse.  No apology!  I do try to be reasonable for voyages though.  Packing planning takes me a while!  😅

Don’t try and beat JP.  You can’t.  Just pack like a Stumble going on a beach vacation does and you’ll have loads of room for your WC wardrobe.

I have to say that I'm more a Stumblelite than a JPlite.   😁

We bought smaller rollaboard bags recently. Just so we could enjoy the challenge!

We got Delta Silver status recently – just so we can bring as much luggage as we please!

We could bring tons of luggage, if we wanted to (missed Diamond status on DL by $27 this year, but Platinum is very nice). It's just easier not to. No waiting for baggage at Heathrow last week while the baggage handlers were on strike. Easy to take the tube to our hotel.

It does come in handy when we want to check a few suitcases full of wine on the way home, though!

But the luggage allowances are over the top. When we flew business class to Helsinki in November we could have each brought 3 checked bags of 32kg, plus two carry-on bags, plus a personal item. I'd have to buy more  clothes in order to have that much to bring!

Apologies to Mysty for dragging this way OT.

This could be fun, a year ahead and misty is already posting the weather.  I too am booked on the 1/24 world cruise.  At the moment I am regarding this as a place holder.  What attracts me to it is that it goes west out of the US instead of east.  I was loathe to go to the West  because of air time and other logistics.  This takes the sting out of 24 hour flights.  I am about to leave for 2 legs of the South American Grand Voyage, Lima to Rio 31 days.  The 31 days will be the longest I have been at sea.  We are using it as a dry run for the world cruise to see how we deal with longer voyages although the world cruise is 4x this.  Today I am looking at the weather on the cruise to try to figure out what to pack.  Packing for a mere 31 days already has my head spinning and I haven't started yet.  The thought of packing for 130+ days seems impossible right now. So anyhow.  I will post what I conclude after the cruise.

I am puzzled about one thing.  Our upcoming cruise is on the Moon.  Why the Shadow-one of its older ships (2000) and not one of the newer models.  I am assuming that they intend on sailing into locations that the  larger ships can't navigate.  If I am wrong here let me know.  Otherwise I hope to be following this thread for the next year.

Speaking for ourselves,  we much prefer the World Cruise on the smaller ships.   Our last two were on the Lady Whisper, the Shadow's sister ship.  We were not taken by the various restaurant options on the Moon on our Grand Voyage in May-June.  We also prefer the intimacy of the smaller ships.

A large part of the fun for adventures like this for me lies in the planning and research.  It makes the wait more interesting.   I thought I'd share what seems like an important consideration when planning a wardrobe to take you through 132 days.   Especially true for this itinerary which covers the gamut of hot and cold temperatures.  About 1/3 of the sail will have cool temperatures.

I hope you enjoy your Grand Voyage!

A dear friend said that she is at her most vulnerable when she is packing. I'm not far behind.  The multi climes get me every time! How do I pack for 2024s Antarctica to Namibia with all those weight restrictions? Penguin safari anyone? 😀  WWJPD

It is definitely an interesting challenge with luggage weight restrictions.  Luckily for this cruise we will get complimentary ship ahead luggage for 2 bags each. One of the ship ahead bags will carry the heavy weight sweaters, jackets and hiking boots.  It won't be unpacked until we need warmer things and will spend the cruise under the bed.

I am very fortunate to actually enjoy the packing process.  I pack for the two of us.  If Myster was left to his own devices his wardrobe would arrive jumbled, wrinkled and with unlikely pairings.  😅
