I booked a cruise last March and finished up payment this past week. Boston to Montreal cruise we liked pre covid -  Anyway I have this "Casino Discount Included In Fare"  and do not recall what this is -  Looking to see if someone could help me understand what I have / received  as it does not show anything in the pricing and it is listed under the Special Services section -   Thanks !

I did call and ask and the rep I spoke to did not know as well -

It is a percentage discount that was applied to the fare you paid. The amount of the discount varies from cruise to cruise.

Just wanted to add that in the future when you look at bookings, you willn(may) not see that 'discount' displayed in the price shown, and have to continue through a booking and into room category to see what your casino discounted rate is (if there is one).

That is the case for myself and others have mentioned that  being the case also.

Also will add, knowing which cruises you have a discount on and what those are, is not easily visible even to your PCC (again, at least in my case). Brut force through the booking seems to be the only method to know what my Casino discount rate is.

Usually, for us, we have to include the CASINO OFFER CODE when booking. We give it to our PPC and she applies the discount, usually very substantial.

I think those that you get are different. Ours do not have a code to enter and are usually not very substantial 10-30 %.

That was the case for me for the last couple bookings I made. I had to go through the whole cabin selection process before seeing the discount.

We don't cruise very often but there has been a discount no matter what cruise I select.

From what I can see, there are two (or more) separate casino deals.  The first one is when you get an email offer from HAL (and/or the casino company) offering you free or heavily discounted cabins, along with other perks such as free play, drinks, slot tournaments, etc.  For these, you have to provide your TA or PCC the offer code, which generally only applies to your booking.

The second is the "casino rate" which is a nicely discounted price to your booking (usually 10-30% off).  For this one you do not need an offer code to book, but you must book with YOUR Mariner number.  You can generally see the lower fare in the reservation process, but it may not show up on the first screen.  With this rate you can select any cabin and get the discount (first deal is generally only for guarantees).  Also, this second deal allows MOST other offers (such a stockholder credit, Thank You for sailing) to be added into your reservation, while you cannot get these with the first deal.

Hope this helps clarify.

Are the free drinks and free casino play for both people in the cabin or only for the person who received the email offer?

This may or may not be true.  On some cruises only my DW got the free casino drinks while on others we both did (generally I do not gamble).  Need to check once onboard.

I disembarked Zuiderdam May 28.  The complimentary drinks in casino only applied to myself, not my DH.  I asked.

What is your definition of substantial?

I guess I was comparing it to the offers people get that include the cabin, drinks and playing money. But this thread was about the fare discount not the free offers so it wasn't an appropriate comparison. I'm quite happy with the amount of the discount we receive.

As would I!  Thanks for the explanation.
