refund on canceled cruise

Has this ever happened to you? If I need to cancel a cruise, what happens to my refund if the bank card I used to pay for it is no longer active?  I need to activate my new card but I paid for a lot of my cruise for next year on the card that is about to expire. I may end up having to cancel before final payment.

If the new card has the same credit card number, you should be fine.  The new card only updates the expiration date.

No, debt card expired, new card different number. That's the card I used to pay Carnival with.

Didnt know you could book with Debit card? but regardless it will go back to the original form of payment.  it can take a lot of followup to see when its been refunded so you can follow up with your bank.

It's best to call up your bank and ask them.

Also, never ever use a debit card to pay for something online or in a store.  Your bank is under no obligation to remove fraudulent charges when your debit card is hacked.  And it will be eventually.  Credit card companies, however, will.  Let the thieves steal the credit card company's money, not yours.

Happened to me with a credit card during the shutdown. They were supposed to refund a cruise with in 90 days. I waited the allotted time then remembered that the card had expired and I had a new one. There was no refund on the card, even though the number was the same. Called Carnival and spoke to a very nice lady who moved me over to someone called a "resolution specialist" I think. She took a report and forwarded it to their finance department. I think it took about 2 weeks for the money to show on my account.

I don’t think this is true if debit card has Visa or Master Card on it.  I’ve had fraudulent charges removed multiple times on my debit card.

Still waiting for "a check in the mail"  for taxes and port charges from a cruise I cancelled.  The PVP I spoke to said that due to unusual circumstances (the credit card was cancelled by me) I would get a check but it would take time.  It's been 6 months.

I sent a registered letter with all the details to Carnival Corporate Headquarters in January and no response yet.

Grateful that it's only $163.00 and I'm not depending on the $$ to buy eggs and beer (LOL).

I have the time to deal with it but it seems ridiculous that it would take so long.  I've already kissed the money goodbye but it's the point of the matter.
