MERGED - QM2 2024 Brooklyn Revised Schedule

Not sure if this means anything. I just noticed MSC Meraviglia's 11-night Canada/New England roundtrip from Brooklyn on September 25-October 6, 2024 is no longer listed on the MSC website. That's the cruise causing the conflict with QM2 on October 6, 2024 necessitating the rescheduling of QM2 to be in Brooklyn on October 4, 2024 instead and ultimately that's what prompted this topic.

 

Now maybe that just means that particular MSC Meraviglia cruise is sold out. But that does appear to be the only MSC Meravigila 2024 cruise no longer listed on their website. That was the last MSC Meraviglia cruise that had been scheduled so far.

It's been a crazy last two weeks for me, but I don't remember getting anything from Cunard about the change in the length of our cruise or earlier arrival date in NY.  We're booked on the westbound TA scheduled to leave Southampton on 6/23/24.   I've searched my emails and nothing....  I just happened to be up early this morning with insomnia reading posts and stumbled across this thread.   I checked my balance due and the fare has been prorated for the shorter duration of the cruise.   So, as far as communications from Cunard, I'm going to keep searching, but seriously doubt that there was any notification...

Yes, not bad news for us.   We're on one of the shortened voyages, so one less sea day doesn't really change anything for us.   We'll just change our strategy knowing we'll have less time onboard.  Bright note is that we saved a lot of money.  Didn't even have to call up or rebook.

Nothing new with this. Even experienced this when on the QE2.

Sure, Cunard has tendered in St. Lucia and Antigua (no dock large enough for QM2) and I tendered once in St. Kitts due to a schedule change made only a few days in advance, but I'm curious to see an example of Cunard scheduling a tender stop at a Caribbean port that has a dock which could have accommodated the ship.

Our experience has been on the QE2 and QM2 in the past, tendering when space was not available.

 

Either in Crown Bay or Havensight, when tendering to Waterfront Highway in front of Town we have seen all the Docks taken up. Causing us to tender directly to middle of town which was very convenient to go shopping or dining/

I just thought of a potential issue with the shareholder benefit for those who are now booked on 6-night crossings instead of the original 7 nights. My reading of the Carnival Shareholder Benefit is that the shareholder OBC amounts are as follows:

 

Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 14 days or longer - US $250

Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 7 to 13 days - US $100

Onboard credit per stateroom on sailings of 6 days or less - US $ 50

 

Seems to me, those on the crossings that have been reduced to 6 nights will now only receive $50 shareholder OBC instead of the $100 they would have received for the original 7-night crossing.

 

Similarly, those who booked a 14-night back-to-back crossing as two separate 7-night crossings would have been expecting a total of $200 shareholder OBC. Now in the situations where those separate bookings consist of one 6-night crossing and one 8-night crossing, I suppose they will now only receive a total of $150 shareholder OBC.

 

It looks like those who qualify for the Military Personnel Onboard Credit Program may have the same issue with that program as well.

 

I note those who were already booked on impacted voyages (whether lengthened or shortened) are to receive $50 OBC as compensation for having their departure or arrival dates changed.

Presumably a reference to QM2? And cruise M401, 12 nights currently sold as 22 December to 3 January 2024, first stop St. Kitts on Boxing Day / St. Stephen's Day?

 

It would be news to me since I am due into Brooklyn off a crossing, arriving 22 December, so I hope it's not the speeded up version. A lot of 2024 trips have been changed due to capacity issues in Brooklyn, some shorter, some longer.

Just got my revised itinerary today.  My 5 night European cruise is now 4 nights without the overnight in Bruges / Zeebrugge. I am getting a 50$ OBC and the cruise will be repriced. Not really bothered as was only really wanting to do some shopping and like to sail around Christmas to see the decorations. We have to be a day less so she can sail a day earlier as she needs to arrive a day earlier in NY

I am completely confused. The thread that was merged with this long one said the change was for THIS year. The title of the longer thread includes 2024 only. So are we getting out off the ship a day early this December or not?! It makes quite a difference.

I see the schedules for MSC Meraviglia have been posted past October 2024.

 

MSC Meraviglia will be at Brooklyn on December 22, 2024 which in causing the schedule change to have QM2 there on December 21, 2024 instead of December 22. From an earlier post, we've learned the overnight at Zeebrugge on December 13-14, 2024 is being shortened to a one-day call. That means the subsequent westbound crossing will depart Southampton December 14, 2024 instead of December 15 to keep it a 7-night crossing.

 

MSC Meraviglia is also scheduled to be at Brooklyn on March 16, 2025. That's the second day of a scheduled overnight stay for QM2 on March 15-16, 2025. I suppose that's going to be shortened to a one-day call now to have QM2 depart Brooklyn March 15, 2025 instead of March 16.

 

There's also apparently a conflict at Brooklyn on May 4. 2025. QM2 was supposed to end her westbound crossing departing Southampton on April 27, 2025 then. That may by why the unannounced 2025 itineraries show QM2 departing Brooklyn for an eastbound crossing on May 5, 2025 instead of May 4. The last published MSC Meraviglia itinerary I see has her in Brooklyn on April 27, 2025. If she is planning another 7-night itinerary from Brooklyn on that date that would put her back in Brooklyn on May 4, 2025.

Dear John,

Got the email this morning and states we will be departing on March 15th instead of the 16th but still returning on the 29th.

 

They have added another island call to the itinerary on March 21 - St Lucia to our voyage. Now making 7 island we will be calling on.

 

We will be calling on the original 6 islands with now St Lucia added making 7. They will not be in the original order as stated in the past.

 

For those already booked will be receiving additional 50 dollar pp to the OBC. Any Drink Packages already purchased will be gratitis extended. And no additional cost or charges for the added island - St. Lucia. That will be as stated compliments of the Line.

 

Visiting the website, the voyage is locked for viewing, most likely for IT reasons and adjustment.

 

The voyage had about 6 legs to it in different makeup.

 

Just had the title and info changed on the Roll Call info.

 

Not sure how this effects the TA before us, with their days of sailing.

I don't think there is a 'yet'; they will have had this year's docking arrangements sorted way back.  But they've either messed up, been bounced, or advertised their 2024 schedule before confirming the Brooklyn berthing they need.

No, I'm not seeing any changes regarding Brooklyn in 2023. Here is the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal schedule. MSC Meraviglia is scheduled to be at Brooklyn on December 23. 2023 so there's no conflict with QM2's scheduled call there on December 22, 2023.

I'm reviving this thread since I noticed the "nycruise" website has posted the 2024 schedule for the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. This neatly shows in one list how MSC Meravilgia is dominating the schedule there during 2024. As we've been discussing, having MSC Meraviglia using Brooklyn as a home port throughout the year is presumably the reason QM2 had to take a back seat and reschedule conflicting dates there.

 

I've highlighted the rescheduled 2024 dates for QM2 which originally were a day or two later on dates that have been reassigned to MSC Meraviglia. I'll try to remember to revisit this exercise next year when the 2025 Brooklyn Cruise Terminal schedule is posted simply to document the scheduling changes for 2025 within a similar master list.

@bluemarble Thanks for posting the schedule.  I didn't realize that other lines will be using the Brooklyn terminal quite heavily.  I wondered why many of the TAs now start on week days, versus the Sunday to Sunday schedule that Cunard has been following for a number of years.  (Of course, I remember back in the day when the crossing took 5 days so that was a whole different thing!). My annual November crossing now leaves Southampton on Wednesday, Nov 13 and arrives in Brooklyn the following Wednesday.  I can imagine the headache it must have been for Cunard to re-work their entire schedule, particularly for itineraries that had ports.  Someone mentioned that using the Manhattan terminal is more expensive for Cunard than Brooklyn - anyone know if that's the reason they use Brooklyn?  I always assumed it was because the Manhattan terminal was smaller than Brooklyn.
