Is there a big difference between this and RC? Activities on board? You should first go to the Reviews section of this site and look at the comprehensive reviews of the Celebrity Beyond. Tons of information from cruisers. It is a very good ship. Be careful which room you choose as there are many that have creaks and noises in the ceiling and walls. mauimary Posted July 31, 2023 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2023 We have now done three cruises on the Beyond. Two in Sunset Aft staterooms on deck 8 and one in an Infinite Veranda on deck 7. Loved all our staterooms. Beautiful ship. Only ran into one passenger who had a noisy Stateroom and the staff moved them. We love the Beyond and now have two more booked for this winter. If in an IV and your neighbor sleeps with their IV window down, it turns off your stateroom's AC...Many don't believe this yet its been reported time and time again

Is there a big difference between this and RC? Activities on board? RCI is superior with entertainment and activities. On X you have one nightly main show offered at 7 and 9 (730 and 930 in Europe), usually one is a comedian, one is a magician and the rest are musicals which could be concert style or Broadway style but there aren't any branded Broadway shows like Cats. Then you have a passenger participation game in-between the main shows. There's no other shows, no karaoke bar, no sing-a-long piano bar, dedicated comedy lounge and obviously no aqua theatre show or skating rink show. They do have trivia once a night and more on a sea day along with bingo a few times a sailing

Pretty sure E class, which includes Beyond, does have more than just the nightly show in the main theatre. There are shows/musical events in Eden and also in The Club. I know the Eden shows aren't every night but there seem to be 3 or 4 on a 10 night cruise with live music on the other nights. There will also be various themed DJ sets playing in the different venues every night, and several silent discos during the cruise. Also regarding the ac in your cabin going off if your next door neighbour has their IV window open, is there any proof of that anywhere? I'm travelling with friends who will be in the cabin next to me in a month so we can certainly try that and see.
deliver42 Posted August 2, 2023 #11 Share Posted August 2, 2023 We were on the Beyond, and the shows were amazing. 2 shows in the main theater, and 2 different shows in Eden. Fantastic ship. Been on over 25 cruises, and this ship blew all the rest out of the water, including the Oasis class.
Rare Stealthdog Posted August 2, 2023 #12 Share Posted August 2, 2023 The Edge Class entertainment is completely different than the rest of the Celebrity fleet. Its like comparing RCL Oasis Class to Radiance Class entertainment. Celebrity stepped up its game with entertainment with Edge Class. Outside of Edge Class, I am not a very big fan of Celebrity's entertainment. I loved Eden - its something you don't experience on any other cruise line/ship. The Beyond and Symphony of the Seas are my two favorite ships. To me, the Beyond had a much different feel than any other cruise ship I've been on - it felt more like a land-based resort and every once in a while you go outside to be reminded you are on the cruise ship.
George C Posted August 2, 2023 #13 Share Posted August 2, 2023 We sailed Edge in penthouse (with a move up) and Beyond in sky suite, outdoor retreat area with swimming pool and bar is fantastic, although price keeps going up . Entertainment was also great.

It seems X is no longer is doing the Eden ongoing interruptive dancing shows and it's only music (usually live but they occasionally they just have a DJ). The E-Class main theater shows are more modern and better than the non-E class shows but they only do their own original "Broadway-style" shows. What you get on RCI, copy and pasted: "Tony Award®-winning Broadway shows— including CATS, Saturday Night Fever, Mamma Mia!, Grease & more!" Additionally, depending on ship class, you have ice skate rink shows, aqua theater shows, a dedicated comedy lounge, a sing along piano bar and karaoke

That must be really new. I just saw a youtube clip from June 2023 with an Eden show that included the acrobats, dancers, singers, and other live performers. That "Alice in Wonderland" show they posted was different than ones we saw last year.

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted August 2, 2023 #19 Share Posted August 2, 2023 We sailed Beyond in February of this year. For us while the ship is beautiful, full of art and unique sculpture, I would actually prefer Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ships or Odyssey of the Seas. That is, if it is many things to do that you want. Also while Beyond's and Apex's shows are a big improvement on their previous ships' shows, Oasis Class and Odyssey still have them beaten even in that category. But what is the OP looking for? Beyond has a very good variety of restaurants. It has a fun walking trail that slants over two decks for an extra challenge. The garden deck and Garden Grill are very pleasant. At night, the bar men in the Centrum put on an acrobatic martini pouring show. There are live bands. They won't be playing current top ten music. I recall an Abba night, for example. One very dramatic difference is that Royal Caribbean is definitely a family oriented cruise line. You will see far more children than on Celebrity which is perhaps the reason why Celebrity including Beyond seem more staid, more elegant and even products in the shops reflect that. Even at fifty, you will be in the younger median of cruisers especially at certain times of the year such as when schools are keeping. Oh, important too. If you smoke, Celebrity has limited places for smoking, especially not in the casino though I had read some here who said the casino is allowing vaping. On our sailing they had a flutist, acrobats who did aerial acts, a hulahopper, the normal dancers, and 2-3 singers as part of the shows. The youtube video was a different show than what was on our sailing, so it looks like they change the shows periodically? Maybe they have scaled back since December as well..... Yes, on our cruise, it was announced that a new group of performers were coming on board at one of the ports. There were several shows in the Eden area and on other nights there was a DJ or live soft music (soloist or duo).

On the July 17 Beyond cruise, there were 650 children, according to Capt Kate and Alejandro (cruise director). Plenty of those were teens, but kids were everywhere--they were doing things like leaving dishes on the stairs and running around with no parental supervision. I believe Kate said that was the most they ever had on a cruise. And this was an Italy/Turkey/Greece itinerary--not exactly a rollicking good time for kids. What did the Captain do about the situation? Did she make an announcement? This happened on our Royal Caribbean cruise and the Captain made an announcement and told all children to report to their rooms for an announcement. An announcement was made regarding the behavior and possible consequences. There was a dramatic improvement in behavior.
Random Cruizer Posted August 2, 2023 #24 Share Posted August 2, 2023 I did not personally observe anyone being told to rein in their children. I was told that parents were spoken to at one of the restaurants, but that's all I was told. I don't have any further info--just what I personally observed in stairwells since I never use the elevators.
