Chocolate Parade?

Recommended Posts

They had it on the koningsdam last week.  But....I would put yourself in bb kings or wherever they go to first on your ship if you hope to participate.  We were in the rock room and I counted 10-15 pieces of dessert that came into the rock room/piano bar area by 2 servers and that was it..very different from years past where most people got to try at least 2 or 3 treats from the numerous servers who made their way around all of music walk.

It was called Chocolate Surprise on the Nieuw Statendam in July and it was very underwhelming.  Servers brought out some trays of chocolate treats that looked exactly like those you can get in the Lido pretty much at any time. Nothing spectacular on our sailing, and they greatly hyped it.

On the Noordam it was a stampede - as if people had never seen chocolate before, with  passengers literally running after waiters. The show was better than the actual chocolate parade. We were sitting on the couches outside the Rolling Stone, there were numerous waiters and several Dutch treats like Ollie Bollen and Poffertjes. However having had a late dinner, all we could do was look.

We did chocolate surprise a month ago on the Rotterdam. A lot of different chocolate covered things, like nuts and fruit. Some clusters of white chocolate covered crunchy things (that looked like the photo from @Crew News). Most was good but not very special, although there was a lot of it so everyone had as much as they wanted. There was also an absolutely outstanding mini chocolate cupcake. It was perfect with intense chocolate taste and a delicious heavy chocolate frosting.

All that chocolate plus an excellent BB King's band made for a fun evening.

They had it on the NS in July. We were very disappointed, unless you stood at the door as the waiters came out of the kitchen there was not very much left. They way that people rushed them you'd think that people had never seen chocolate or were starving.

That's the way it was on our last HAL cruise. People stood waiting for the waiters to emerge. You would swear people had not had access to chocolate or any sweets for months ....as opposed to maybe .. like an hour ago...

Not my cup of tea (not a sweets person) but it was quite a sight!
