Formal Nights on 10 day cruise

We will be on the Princess Regal for a 10 day cruise out of Galveston starting on Dec. 17th.   What nights are the "formal nights" where they serve a better dinner in the MDR?

2 formal evenings. Probably Monday 18th or Tuesday the 19th and Christmas, Monday 25th. Christmas should be a 'special' meal. Formal nights are never on boarding day and never on the evening before disembarkation.

I have never known the MDRs to serve a "better meal" on formal nights... Maybe I've just missed it.

They always serve something that you never see on other nights.

It's the one time we would miss out on but going to a Specialty restaurant.

Perhaps so...but does that constitute a "better meal"?

I agree. In my experience there is often an extra or special option but better? Not sure about that tbh.

In the OP's case on Christmas evening there probably will be some special selections. A traditional U.S. turkey dinner comes to mind as a possibility.

Dec 18 - not 19.  Dec 25 (it would have been 24th if possible, but not with a port day ending 5pm and the following two sea days).

You can see which nights are scheduled as formal nights in the Journey View activities timeline in the app. Every evening will show either “casual” or “formal” portraits. I’ve seen it populate as much as a couple of months before a cruise.

Usually, the next to last night is lobster night.

Champagne waterfall on Monday, 12/18, so I’m leaning towards that being the first Formal night. Agreed with 12/25 being the most likely second FN.

We had two formal nights on our 10 day Ruby cruise.  The first sea day & 3rd sea day.  Champagne waterfall was at the first formal night.

When we cruise out of Port Everglades, we always have a wonderful lobster dinner.  It is at Kelly's Landing the night before we board the ship :).  I generally get a 2 1/2 pound Maine Lobster and DW enjoys her lobster roll.

"Formal nights" are pretty much sea nights. Food is usually better near the last night & maybe one mid cruise.

On every cruise we have been on first formal night is first sea day and the champagne waterfall has been on that night as well.  Like others have said the app before you sail will list all the events just prior.  Happy Sailing!
