Hahaha!!!  Thanks!   If you want to post couple of your dailies for a typical Sea Day and a Port Day, I'd be willing to try to make one up for ya...  Otherwise, enjoy your upcoming RCL cruise!!!  😉

Thanks, but not necessary. I'll just wander from food venue to food venue like I usually do. I did love yours though. Enjoy your cruise!

There are no hooks on the walls in this room. The regular balcony rooms have two hooks on the walls and two inside the bathroom door. This room has the two on the bathroom door, but none on the walls.

I'm curious, are MSC's walls metallic like many other cruise ships? We usually bring magnetic hooks and I'm wondering if we'll be able to use them on the Meraviglia? TYIA

Yes.    Everything is metal

Yes. Wishing I had brought some magnetic hooks as my Studio Balcony doesn't have any hooks on the walls like my regular balcony room did.

Yesterday was the day we had all been looking forward to, our port stop in Cozumel and the Cozumel Bar Hop. Ted had been talking up this excursion since we all first met him, so we were all determined to have an amazing time in his absence.

But first, it was room service breakfast on my balcony. I scheduled it for 7:30-8:00 and it came the usual 15 minutes early. I typed up my block and enjoyed the sound from and view of the wake, as the ship wasn’t scheduled to dock until 11:00.

Once I was done with my blog, I realized it was only 8:00, so I might be able to catch Cheree and Ray for MDR breakfast. Since we were going to be off the ship during lunchtime, I thought it might be a good idea to have a full breakfast, instead of my usual single pastry.

Ray said I could meet them for breakfast at 8:30, so I jumped in the shower and then headed down to Edge. We walked back to Panorma and we were initially happy to get seated near the side windows. We got seated at a grouping of two-top tables. The table closesgt to the window already had a couple seated at it. Ray and Cheree took the table in the middle. I took the table at the end, which already had a lovely woman seated at it. This turned out to be Sue from Massachusetts. Things started off a bit slowly, but they did take our orders. I ordered a build-your-own omelet with cheddar and bacon, hash browns, and white toast. When I ordered the toast, I asked for butter and jam and my server assured me they would be bright separately. I was doubtful… this not being my first MSC MDR breakfast experience.

We were chatting away and Sue and I got our food in stages. She got her grapefruit first, then her bagel (missing cream cheese), then her food, and then cream cheese eventually. I got my food and asked again for butter and jam. I then got butter and asked again for jam. And then not long after that, I actually got jam! So I accomplished toast!

Ray and Cheree were not having as much luck. Ray had asked the roaming juice servers for tomato juice and got varying responses, but it never came. Far worse though was that Sue and I had pretty much finished eating and they still hadn’t gotten a bite of food except on croissant from a roving pastry pusher, but no butter for the croissant, which Ray had asked for.

Finally, Ray just flagged down someone in a jacket and complained about not getting their food or tomato juice yet. He was very apologetic and finally things started to happen. They brought most of the food, but the bagel was missing from her bagel with lox and cream cheese. They just brought her a plate of lox, capers, and cream cheese with no bagel? So bizarre.

Once we had FINALLY all eaten breakfast, Ray and I went to Edge for a mimosa blossom and then we split up to get ready for our excursion. I just hung out in my room for a while listening to CNN (the satellite wasn’t getting a picture) on my TV and poking my phone. Then I doused myself in sunscreen and gathered up my supplies for the excursion.

Fortunately, we had docked at the Punta Langosta terminal, which is the one the excursion bus was set to pick us up at. Otherwise, we would have had to take a cab. It was a looooong walk down the pier and then we were kind of trapped in this tourist mall maze, searching for Senor Frogs. I eventually spotted the corner of a frog eye painted on a wall, peeking out from over another building and we made our way over there.

There were, of course, several other people that we recognized from the ship. Our tour guide arrived and let us know that we would be waiting about 15 minutes for one couple that was coming from the mainland. He told us we could grab a drink from Senor Frogs or there was a store around the corner that sold cold beer in cans and bottles for cheap. We obviously went with that option. I bought a mojito-flavored hard seltzer, Ed got two Dos Equis, and Cheree just bought some magnets.

We didn’t have to wait too long for everyone to be gathered back up and the last couple to join us. Our guide, Sergio, asked if anyone needed the restroom before we headed to the bus. Cheree did, but that ended up being a bad call because that entire mall/maze complex apparently only had two stalls in the women’s bathroom so she had to wait in a long line. We did eventually make it to our bus, though.

So, the whole concept of this tour is that it takes you to four beach bars on the undeveloped side of the island. That side of the island has no electricity and people are not allowed to be over there past 6:00pm year-round, because it is a nesting ground for sea turtles. The first bar was the “fancy” bar that actually took credit cards, but the rest of the bars only took cash.

At each bar, we received a complimentary shot and then we were on for any additional drinks or food. At the first bar, Punta Morena, Sergio had recommended the nachos and said they were a large portion that fed four people. Our complimentary shot was a “Mayan Sacrifice,” which I really thought I would hate since it included anise and pineapple, but it was pretty good. I got their classic margarita and we ordered a plate of nachos to share. All the prices were in pesos, but I am pretty used to stuff being cheap in Mexico, so I didn’t think much of it. That hard seltzer I had gotten in the tourist trap store was only $2 US. We had a fun time chatting. I decided to go over on the rocks and take some pictures of the water. When I got back, it was time to settle our bill. Ray had to use the restroom, so I figured I could just cover both of us since this bar took credit cards. I paid for the nachos and two drinks (mine and Ray’s). The total bill was $90 US!!!! Apparently, the nachos were 675 pesos, which, with a 17:1 conversion rate is $40! I mean, they were good nachos and we did have six of us snacking on them, but they were by no means a MEAL for anyone. That goodness I didn’t order the ceviche. That’s listed on the menu as 850 pesos, so $50! The drinks were $14 each.

I sucked it up and we moved on to our next bar, Coconuts. This one was a bit of a climb up some questionable stairs. We were warned that the Blue Margarita there was super strong, so of course Ed had to order one. Our complimentary shot here was a Tequila Slammer, which was a true shot we were supposed to drink in one sip. I have no idea what was in it, but it was pink and had a weird aftertaste. I got the Melon Ball to drink and that was very good. This bar was a fun one. They had women’s panties and bras hanging all over, along with a lot of random t-shirts. On the tables, there were photo albums of MANY past female patrons flashing their boobs and butts. It made for good entertainment.

This bar also had some fun animals: a couple of parrots, a chameleon, and a crocodile.

This is also where I met Paul, my new husband. He is a grasshopper made out of a palm frond and we are madly in love. He is an amazing dancer and a heavy drinker. Unfortunately, our age difference (he was literally born yesterday) and our language barrier (he only speaks Spanish) are some issues we are working through. But I really think it’s going to last!

On our way down the steps from Coconuts back to the bus, Ed busted his toe somehow. Thankfully there was a first aid kit on the bus and Sergio got him somewhat patched up.

On the bus to our next stop, Paul regaled us with his amazing dancing. This was actually when I decided to marry him.

The next stop was  El Pescador. Our free shot there was called a Windex and involved Blue Curacau. It was very good. Here I got a Mojito, which was a little overly minty, but decent. At this stop, a live band showed up, so that was really enjoyable.

Paul danced some more in the bus on the way to our last stop, Rastas. This stop is Ted’s favorite, so we all wanted to get a picture together at the chapel here. Our free shot was an Iguana and it was really really good. I think it was Paul’s favorite. But *my* favorite drink here was the Peanut Butter Tequila shot. It was soooooooo delicious. I had two, but I probably would have had more if I had more time. Sergio told me he would tell me the recipe on the bus on the way back to the ship, but he didn’t.

By the time we were on the bus back to the ship, we were all feeling good and singing at the top of our lungs, while Paul danced his skinny legs off. It was a really fun time, but boy was I drunk! Cheree and Ed decided to stay on shore, but Ray and I decided we needed to head to the buffet and then pass out, which is exactly what we did. I had a couple of slices of pizza and then I crashed hard until about 8:15 when I realized it was almost dinner time, so I pulled myself together, put on some clean clothes, and headed down to Panorma.

Nothing on the menu was really calling my name this time, except for the Snickers Cake. So I had the classic favorites, french onion soup and pasta bolognese. I tried to drink as much water as I possibly could throughout dinner. Everything was good, especially the Snickers Cake. A few of the people at the table had made the mistake of ordering the Warm Apple Tart, which wasn’t very warm, was sugar-free, and didn’t come with ice cream like they all assumed it would.

Ed was really trying to get us to all go out dancing after dinner, but we were all wiped from a day full of drinking, sun, and heat. I didn’t even stop at the casino. I just got a couple of bottles of water and headed straight to bed.

Mayan Sacrifice from Punta Morena

Margarita from Punta Morena

Tequila Slammer from Coconuts

@JamieLogical  I did not see whether you were able to pick up a replacement hat for Ted or not?  I am hoping that you where but in the presence of all those delicious drinks just neglected to report back on it.

No, but I have emailed the owner to see if I can have one shipped. All that was available to us on the bus was t-shirts.

Thanks.  Here is hoping that you can get a replacement via mail.  If not, there will be another opportunity as our February cruise stops in Cozumel on Feb 20th.

Hi Jamie,

How hard is it to connect to the ship's Wifi for the first time?   Also, is it easy to change devices (ie. laptop>phone>laptop) connecting to the wifi?  Thanks!

Connecting is easy, but you cannot change between devices.  If you want to use two devices, you need a two device plan.  EM
