Cassino Cash

Hello Everyone - It's been nearly 2 years since we were onboard Regent.  Thankfully, that will change in less than two weeks!  😜  I seem to recall that up in the Cassinos, there was/is an ATM "cash machine" that you can pop a debit/CC into and get U.S. dollar (bills) out.  And as I also recall, there was either a percentage or fixed fee charged for the transaction.  Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5%-7%, I think.

Are those machines still there in the Regent cassinos?  I'm just trying to avoid carrying a lot of (U.S.) cash with me overseas.  Thanks

You can get some amount of U.S. cash from the main desk for no fee. It goes onto your shipboard account, then gets charged to your credit card as a purchase at the end of the cruise. I don't remember how much, but it is more than $100.

It has been $200 per passenger per segment.

The amount of cash you can get is actually $400 per passenger per segment. There is another way to get cash without a fee. Use the Gift Order Form on the Regent website to send yourself cash in the form of refundable shipboard credit. When you send yourself cash, Regent bills your credit card as a purchase.

Thanks everyone for the input, so far.  I'm still wanting to know if anyone recently recalls seeing an "ATM-like" cash machine in the Cassino area/s.  I seem to recall one being there (and actually using one) there 2 years ago.  It was the same machine that you inserted "printed receipts" into in order to "cash out" winnings from the slot machines.  I recall a "slot" in the machine that you could insert a debit/credit card into in order to draw out "your own money" from your own personal bank account "back home"?

I recall a cash machine being in the casino on a recent Mariner cruise. However, due to possible maintenance or satellite connection issues, I would not rely on a ship ATM as a planned source of cash on a cruise.

I applied, and was approved, for an onboard line of credit. Not surprisingly, Regent didn't receive the application I filled in and submitted on their website, so I had to call the credit department and have them send out a .PDF application via e-mail, which I filled out, e-signed, and e-mailed back. Then a week or two later I received an e-mail informing me that I had to do a three-way call with Regent and my bank to verify my info/funds. It was only after that that I was approved. There were certainly a few hoops to jump through, but I like the idea of just being able to get fee-free funds while onboard if I need them. Any balance I might have is payable at the end of the trip; onboard credits can't be used.

There was an ATM in the casino on the Mariner. It dispensed $100 bills. I was charged a $6.99 fee when I withdrew $500.

Hi Jim - Thanks for the info!  That aligns exactly with what I remembered it as being the last time I was onboard (and it was also the Mariner).  A 1.4% service charge for that convenience seems very reasonable to me!  👍  Best Regards.

I just saw that you will be getting on the Splendor in Barcelona. I am on Splendor now and checked with the casino manager. Unfortunately, it’s a good news bad news situation. The good news is that there is an ATM in the casino with a $6.99 fee per use. The bad news is that the machine is not working so you can’t get any cash from it. Sorry. I guess it’s time for Plan B. 🙁

Hi Dave - I'm glad to hear you're on Splendor now!  Thanks very much for checking on that for me.  Very nice of you to do that.  Fortunately (Thanks to you), I've still got some time for "plan B" (getting some cash) to kick in before I fly out of Phoenix (on Wednesday morning).  Mary and I will be arriving in Barcelona on the morning of Thurs (the 16th), and we'll be staying at the Intercontinental with our traveling companions(Rob & Sharon) for 4 nights.  Then, the 4 of us will board Splendor on Monday morning (the 20th) for our "ride" back to Miami.  Will you be staying onboard with us back across the Atlantic?  Hope so.  I'd love to meet you.  Best Regards.

We are on the Splendor until Miami. Looking forward to meeting you. Why don’t you shoot me an email when you board and we can arrange a meeting time.

Dave

P.S. Once the casino opens, I’ll double check to see if the cash machine is working now.
