Celebration! / Live! / Solo? Jan-14-21-2024 The Tribe Cruise!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else see the irony here? Invent a company called Smart Water, then sell it at the airport for SIX DOLLARS a bottle... Smart for them anyway, not the customers who are stuck inside the airport and have no choice...

I have five Carnival cruises booked this year. But....two of them were great deals (for me) from back in the spring sale of 2022. Then two Jubilee ones...one was about what I expect to pay for a new ship. The other was slightly more but it's for this summer. I booked it after the price for Celebration skyrocketed for my week last summer. The fifth I only booked to get me to diamond for 2025. But change is coming. Four of the last five cruises I've booked have not been with Carnival. Three are NCL. The prices are coming out better. 10% military discount. $150-250 off with Cruise First/Next. Free at sea. Unless there's a major change I think NCL may be my primary cruise line in a year.

I have 4 more cruises to get to 25 and was going to do short ones.  I have done 11 days and 14 days but they only count as 1 cruise.  Then I am thinking why bother?  We too have found more reasonable cruises with everything included on Princess and Holland and the ports are better. It would just be nice if Carnival shared loyalty program.

I'm sorry this cruise is over.  I have enjoyed every bit of it, pictures and commentary.  Sad that you won't be doing any more lives but have read and enjoyed every one of yours.  Will continue to follow the tribe and hopefully enjoy your writings from there.  Travel on Sid.

I almost wish for an earthquake or some other thing that might keep me out of work tomorrow... Almost. Sure as heck don't want to go, though. On another note: I'm holding out on eating at the airport. I can survive until I get home...

For the 25 I guess it depends on if you have something you want to use that milestone benefit on. I’m already going to hit 25 this year and have a plan for mine

But on Princess I noticed they gave me double points for being a solo. With that I’m actually only two cruses away from platinum and seven from elite. Which is crazy considering it’s going to take me like 27 to hit diamond on carnival.

Here's to Princess.  Agreed.  Their casino comps are amazing too.

Thanks so much for sharing your adventures and misadventures 😉with us, Sid. I've followed your reviews for a long time, and this was one of the best! My husband and I wandered OSJ aimlessly, the last time we were there, but I don't think we managed to see half of the things you saw! Awesome pictures and commentary, sir!

May life treat you well, as you embark on another path! Be blessed!

Ok stupid question, what benefit do you get for 25 cruises with Carnival?

25% of cruise fare back in OBC…so it’s good to use on a big one.

Milestone Rewards Program denotes a guest’s 25th, 50th 75th and 100th revenue cruise with Carnival.  Guests will receive a special Milestone Sail & Sign card on their corresponding Milestone cruise.  We want to distinguish guests on their Milestone sailing with a unique card so that we can make his/her Milestone experience extra special and memorable.  After this milestone cruise, they will revert to the card that corresponds to their VIFP level.

In appreciation for their loyalty, the guest will also be granted the opportunity to redeem a future non-refundable onboard credit equivalent to 25%, 50% or 75% of the cruise ticket price, corresponding to the milestone reached. And when a guest reaches his/her 100th cruise, will qualify for a FREE Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska or Australia cruise of their choice (8 days or less, for 2 guests), in accommodations up to and including Ocean Suites (category OS/OT).

You run into all kinds of wacky people here at the airport. I went for one last bathroom break, and there's a guy in there stripped all the way down to his underwear right there in the middle of the restroom. Urine and God knows what else in the floor... Anyhoo, I'm staking my claim for first in line for Main cabin 1... Some day I hope to get some kind of flight status that gets me on earlier, but the amount of money I spend with them just isn't cutting it...

There's a huge line to get into the women's restroom... That's one of the advantages of being a guy, if there's a lot of people in there, you can just pee in the sink.

You think women don’t?

Good thing that I had my first position in Main cabin 1, since most of the overhead bin space was full already. I got a prime spot straight across from where I'm sitting. Another guy gets on and started rearranging items in the bin so that he could get his carry on AND his personal item in the bin. People like him are the reason that space runs out in the first place. Luckily he didn't try to mess with my bag, as I've already had enough problems with idiots today. I just want to GET HOME!
