Cruise Line Recommendation

HI.  I’m looking for a recommendation for a cruise line that is a nicer cruise line for Italy and Greece.  This would be for August/Sept 2024 travel dates.  Thanks!

What is a "nicer" cruise?

I guess I’m thinking not so much a “party” boat, more on the adult side vs. lots of families and college kids, etc.

Royal Caribbean ships would be a good place to look.

First, your window is past summer vacation,  so "party boat" is unlikely. The longer the cruise, the decreased likelihood as well.

 

Many cruise lines meet your general definition. Princess, HAL, Celebrity,  just to start a list.

Celebrity, Princess as mentioned.  Based on your comments avoid Carnival (for certain), RCCL, NCL.

 

Celebrity is primarily adults, Princess is similar and with couples, some families.

 

Carnival is more of the party style, RCCL and NCL primarily is families with children.

Having sailed them both (TransAtlantic to or from Europe), I would definitely favor Holland America over Royal Caribbean.

Just to be clear, we enjoyed them both, but the entertainment/distractions on RCCL were much less sedate -- think tiedyed MoTown performance in the attrium. We sailed on the Rhapsody OTS and it was not a megaship so we were pretty comfortable with the size (as HAL-fankids).

We did rccl on on of there smaller ships and it was great. In Europe ports are more important than ship or line since excursion are normally long with very few sea days.

Of the three lines we've tried, we like HAL (Holland America). Nice size ships, food is decent, and staff are not only helpful ,but seem happier than some. Itineraries will be very similar to some of the others mentioned.

RCI has mid-sized ships that I think are comparable to HAL.  I still enjoy those more than the Mega ships.
