Because they don't understand engineering and construction.  Similiar to an office building, the support joints move, like scissors, by design to withstand high winds and in a ships case, combined with rough seas.

We just got off the Beyond last month. We had a forward-facing cabin which was not noisy (except for a crew area in the bow that partied one night) but we heard a lot of cruisers complaining about the very loud creaking noises in the verandahs which was much louder than they experienced on other ships and lines.

 

Note on Beyond's forward-facing ocean view cabins: We've sailed many forward-facing cabins as they have a great view and are usually much larger than a regular ocean view. We didn't like Beyond's forward-facing cabin however. While the deck plan seems to show a larger cabin, the reality of the very steep forward bulkhead makes the deck space beneath it unusable. In our opinion, while this room seemed to be larger (floor space-wise), it was functionally smaller than a regular ocean view.

It’s a cheap way to cruise , book cabin complain of creaking and get OBC or get moved to a better cabin than you paid for.

I was on the Beyond a few weeks ago in a midship Concierge IV. I heard quite a few thumps and bangs in the room, but it didn’t bother me. It was just something to talk about.

We were on Beyond the first week in January. We were on deck nine, aft, on the starboard side. There was no noise.

Because it’s much more than creaks.  There are loud banging noises.

We were in MC Suite 10168 in November.  The banging and popping noise from the ceiling was SO LOUD they moved us on the 2nd day to a Sky Suite.  We have cruised over 30 times and are use to creaks etc.  This was way more than that.  No one understands until they have experienced it first hand.  First time in 34 cruises we have ever gone to customer service to complain about anything!  Packing up all our stuff after being settled in was not fun but there is no way I was getting any sleep in the first suite we had.
