Emerald Princess casual dining?

We are sailing on Emerald Princess this summer.  We have Princess Plus.  Do they still have the Salty Dog Gastropub on board?  I'm just wondering what food options our Princess plus will get us since there is no Alfredos or Gelato bar on board?

Check out the YouTube channel "Code 4 for life".......They were of the Emerald Princess this year and made vids of the casual dinning venues that they visited, including "Salty Dog Gastropub".

@Mintycake I see Gastropub and Vines on the deck plans,so this may be the only casual dining onboard. I have family members onboard now , I’ll try to see if they can give me an answer ,but who knows ,they’re probably having way too much fun on their vacation.

Maybe planks and steamers too?

I was on the Ruby recently which is the sister ship of the Emerald. Emerald Princess has the Salty Dog Gastropub in the Wheelhouse Bar. It's a fairly nice meal. I thought the ribs were better than the burger. I liked the grilled cheese/tomato soup app. Emerald also has the Crudites/Charcuterie board meal at Vines. I did not try it. Looked like something I could put together at the buffet.

Based on the Princess dining options PDF these are the casual dining options:

Saltydog Gastropub

Vines

Steamers Seafood (pop-up)

Planks BBQ (pop-up)

Emerald actually has more casual dining than your average Princess ship - 4 venues, versus 2 or 3 on the other ships.

Vines

Salty Dog Gastropub

Planks

Steamers

Heck, even the brand new Sun only has 2 options!

What does a pop up mean?  not a fixed location?

Thanks to everyone who replied!  It looks like these are not listed on the Princess App.  I was wondering if the ice cream sandwiches are included from Coffee and Cones if we have Princess Plus?

Wait. No gelato on the Emerald??? I feel like canceling!

I mean, I can make my own with the C**s*n*rt ice cream maker I bought at a garage sale, but … I have such fond memories of ordering the triple scoop on the Ruby and scarfing it all by myself while DH was somewhere else, he he he … the limoncello flavor alone was worth the cost of the trip.🤪

Can we make reservation upon boarding the ship?  Would the dine line people know which nights Planks is available?

As I noted, they can only be made aboard..

Yes, the DINE line can do it for you. Planks and Steamers alternate nights. Embarkation day Patter will show which one is open that night, so very very easy to work out the remaining schedule for the 2...

Very helpful.  Ok then, as soon as we board the ship we will look at the patter and figure out which days Planks will be offered- we would like to do that at least 1 time-- have Crown Grill scheduled for 2 nights already Included in the dining plan- I don't care for the Italian restaurant as just too much for for us---- am putting this info in my notes!  Thanks.

I believe coffee & Cones ( on Lido deck by panoramic elevators)will have the premium( plus or Premier) desserts. Or pay $12. Possibly only vanilla gelato at this location.

Sorbet maybe only in D.R.?

Thank you.

If you have a chance, would you please ask your family members if they have cans of root beer onboard the Emerald Princess. Hopefully it’s included with Plus. I’m hoping for more caffeine free options now that cans are included. At least I have read reports stating that cans are included.

Have had root beer on all my sailings post Covid. However - it's Barqs. Which has "bite". Aka, caffeine..  so, while tasty, doesn't hit the caffeine free need.

Orange soda and Sprite for caffeine free.

And yes, it's in a can. And yes, cans are included (as they were for those flavors only in cans prior to the "change".

Thank you! I didn’t know that Barqs contained caffeine. That’s good to know.  At home I drink diet A&W. I really wish they carried that. It would be great to have something diet and caffeine free.
