zship Posted March 27 #1 Share Posted March 27 Does anyone know if the pier Crystal uses in Bordeaux is within easy walking distance to the old town center and if not, are shuttles provided ?
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 27 #2 Share Posted March 27 You are right downtown so no shuttle needed. Keith
JusttheTwoofUs Posted March 27 #3 Share Posted March 27 I asked Crystal about the Bordeaux docking for the 7/18 - 7/30 Symphony cruise and the address is: QUAI LOUIS XVIII, 33000, Bordeaux, France. Looking at a map, it appears to be the one right in the center of town. Phyllis

occasional cruising Posted March 28 #5 Share Posted March 28 It could easily be the best cruise ship location on the planet. Open mouthed fantastic.
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 28 #6 Share Posted March 28 This will give you a feel of where you will be docked. You get off the ship and across the street is the downtown area. Keith
PaulaJK Posted March 28 #7 Share Posted March 28 You will love this fabulous ‘dock’. Residents utilize the plaza for skateboarding and other activities…fun to watch. Also folks come out to enjoy seeing the ship. There is a nearby tram line to aide your explorations/ take euros.

We had also stopped there on a river cruise. Wonderful memories, both! When we departed on Symphony, in the middle of the night, I snuck out of our deck seven stateroom to go outside and view our turning around in the river. I can reconstruct the quiet, chilly, dark surroundings, as if it were yesterday. Actually, I just looked it up. Pushback was 5 am! Indeed, your city is outstanding. vistaman Posted April 2 #11 Share Posted April 2 see the enclosed pic : Crystal Serenity reaching the old cruise terminal - new terminal is in front of the old castle the call was in 2006 - i was on board - horrible captain said a lot of unpleasant items about my hometown : he was afraid of the swing and did not like the 4 hours bridge in 2004 he tried to avoid Antwerp as well on the Symphony!! pretending it was not deep enough

Rare Keith1010 Posted April 3 #14 Share Posted April 3 We arrived to Bordeaux August 2023 on Serenity in the early evening Some views from the ship. Next morning we walked to many nearby sites. n Beautiful Park within a nice walk from the pier. And there was lots of time to visit chateau's as we have done several times. I never like to say the best because to me there are some other very nice places we have docked allowing us to walk right into cities. Sydney, San Francisco, Cape Town (the time we were docked in a location no longer used for the medium and larger ships, Barcelona when we've been there on the smaller ships rather than where the larger ships dock. And several more. And the sail away from Bordeaux. Keith
