Port to Miami airport

Recommended Posts

Please remind me how far is the Miami airport from the cruise port?  Trying to book an early flight after 7AM port arrival and self assist walk off .

9 miles, 20 minutes.  But that can vary depending on traffic. As MIA is large and usually very busy you need to allow extra time for baggage check in, security through the terminal, and transit to the gate.

The other factor would be the POM can be busy and what type of transportation to MIA you are using - Uber / Lyft, ship transfer, other public van / bus.  Common transportation will take longer than private as they need to fill the vehicle before leaving.

You don't say how early a flight but I would not suggest anything before 10:30 AM or so (I thing that would be pushing it) and later is better in our experience there.

I realize I'm adding more than you asked for but just want to be sure you have it.

More than I asked for is very helpful. Thanks!

Been some time since using Miami airport.

Am looking at an 11:30ish flight after scheduled 6:30 AM arrival.

11:30 should work. I would just allow as much time as available by getting off the ship ASAP.  Rather be sitting at the gate with too much time waiting than rushing through the terminal to catch the flight.  (Have had both experiences - LOL)

Enjoy your cruise!

11:30 is fine. We usually book flights around 11:00.

Please take into consideration that we have had longer waits for security this year. Checkpoint 1 is for those with TSA Pre-Check, Checkpoints 2 and 3 (on right) are for people without TSA Pre-Check.

In my opinion 11:30 is the perfect time for a flight

11:30am will be just fine. We did a walk off this past Feb/March and took one of the shuttle vans offering private transportation. Big signs (can't miss them) when you exit the terminal $10.00pp they filled up very fast and we were on our way. Got to MIA before 8am...couldn't have been quicker and easier.

I think you'll make it in plenty of time. We self walked off in miami and caught an uber/taxi and got to the airport way early.

We did the $10 vans on our last cruise. Fast. Easy. Cheap. $20 for the two of us.

At the time, Uber was $39.19 (less a promo code I had). Because of our luggage, I always book an XL.
