Older Teens

Booked on the Carnival Venezia in July.
Traveling with a17 and 18 year old girls. Are there activities for their age range?
They are not going to want to hang out with 13 year olds

Thanks!

Teens under 18 can go to the teen club, I suggest the younger one go the first night, meet some new friends, and then they can all hang out in the ship together.

We cruise with our teen.  She is 17 now.  She has never done much in the teen club but she meets teenagers on the lido or sports deck and hangs out with them for the week.

They will be in Club O2 which is 15-17 year olds. 12-14 is in Circle C so they won't be with 13 year olds.

Actually the 18 year old won't be in any club.

Might be a good idea to review all the amenities on the ship's website.  Some 18yr olds can spend hours by the pool, reading a book, using a device and having pizza for lunch.  Others want more active things to do.  Some want sports.  You know your kids, so discuss what's available on the ship with them.

They could go to one of the bars, get drunk and make a fool of themselves?  Just a suggestion. 😉

No they couldn't, unless someone over 21 bought them drinks without getting caught.

Ours are the same age and they do get a little bored on the ship.

I try to spend some Dad time with them and we go to the Comedy shows.

Hopefully they will enjoy the pool

We did the same, went to the adult comedy shows with ours. LOL!

We also hit the casino one night, but since none of us are gamblers, we lasted maybe 30 minutes. LOL!

Seriously?  The age of majority in Australia is 18.  Irrespective, they could still get drunk and make a fool of themselves with someone else buying them a drink.

Yes, seriously.  If an adult over 21 is caught giving a minor an alcoholic drink there could be major repercussions involved as a result.

The age on Carnival is 21, it doesn't matter if many of the port stops allow drinking at 18.

Wow, I hope there are not a lot of adults who are trying to get teenagers drunk.

There was a 20 year old male who ended up jumping off of a ship about a month or so ago.  It was rumored that he was drunk and that possibly his father was getting drinks for him.  An argument ensued between them and the son went overboard.

It was a joke and never meant to be given serious consideration.

Sorry but I don't think that is completely accurate, see below:

What is the drinking age on the Carnival Australia cruise?

18 years of age

What's the legal drinking age onboard Carnival Cruise Line Australia cruises? Passengers must be 18 years of age to consume or purchase alcohol. Remember that if travelling on a Carnival ship in the U.S., the drinking age is 21.7 Jan 2020

While they may or may not be of legal drinking age, an 18 year old is no longer considered a minor.  So, yes you are correct.   An adult cannot give a minor (under 18) alcohol.  That would seem to apply even on Carnival Australia.  And, of course, minor or not, no one should give a drink to someone under the legal age.

That's Carnival Australia. The rule is definitely 21 for the US.

You speak from your knowledge base and I speak from mine. This is all part of the wonderful tapestry of travel and experience; different countries, different cultures, different laws.  Neither is right and neither is wrong, just different based on societal expectations.  Vive la Difference!

Carnival Australia is what, two ships where the age is 18.  In the rest of the world that Carnival cruises, even in Europe I believe, it's 21.

That's sounds rude, I hope it was not intended that way.

For your further elucidation, during the 2023 cruise season Australia welcomed 40 cruise ships from at least 20 different lines.  In anybody's language this is a very solid season.

Furthermore, while the drinking age in Australia is 18, it is 20 in Japan and 18-20 in Europe.

We were comparing the legal drinking age on a Carnival ship.  The drinking ages of various port stops doesn't come into play. And the fact that Australia has various cruise lines sailing in their waters has no merit in this discussion as well.

When Carnival cruises in North America, the drinking age is 21.  The few times over the course of the year that Carnival cruises in Europe, I will assume it's also 21, if it is 18, I'll be corrected.  You have said that the age on  Carnival Australia is 18.  In general, over 90% of Carnival cruises, the age is 21.
