@maluhia87 Thanks for that info. I am booked on a 6 day cruise so I am assuming that I will only be charged for a 5 day Cheers package...

That is true. They won't charge you for the one day you don't get to use it.

If they have it on board it would be covered.  I seem to remember seeing Dr. Pepper on the Jubilee in a vlog so I'm pretty confident they have it.

Just got off the Jubilee.  Grandson had Dr. Pepper almost every day with the Bubbles package.

And then it varies by cruise line. Like on Princess the way they handle it out of Galveston is they just don't start the drink package until after sail away. And we sailed away earlier...an hour earlier than scheduled. So it was like...eat lunch (in the dining room)...unpack....drink the carry-on bottle of wine during sail away...before you know it the drink package kicks in.

I guess I'll see next year how NCL handles it when I go on Prima out of Galveston.

I am not a drinker, but when I have drinks on us or drinks everywhere from the casino the free drinks start on day one out Galveston.  We only have to wait until the casino opens.  This sounds like how Princess does their drink package.  I am surprised that Carnival doesn't do the same thing.

It doesn’t sound like the person asking the question is on a casino deal.

yeah I knew that.  My point was that carnival casino can do the drink package on day one so I am surprised that Carnival doesn't have the same policy as Princess.

I believe the casino pays for all the drinks on the backend, the designation is just a message to the waiter to not charge the customer. Whereas, Cheers is an all inclusive with no per drink charge behind it, so they opted to just not start it until day 2, and to not charge for day 1.

Heck yes!  Was it just in the cans or was it available at the soda fountain as well?

Open bar right away on NCL.  We went out of Galveston on the Prima as a repo cruise of 11 days to Miami.  They had an extremely limited TX menu, but by 530 or so, it was a full bar.

We'll be on the Escape again next April out of MIA and the new Aqua out of NYC to Bermuda in September of 2025.  Will reach platinum status on the Escape so the benefits will kick in on the Aqua cruise.

They had it at the self serve soda machines and he'd get it for dinner in the MDR.

Glad to see the Carnival blinders are off and you've enjoyed the Plus package on Princess with it's great value and I know you'll enjoy the Prima.  We were on her for three times totalling 25 days.  We're looking forward to our Aqua sailing, which is a Prima Plus ship.

I'm probably older than you but I can remember carnival used to start cheers day 1 when it hit international water. People posted on cc to wait to purchase it the next day because you don't get your money's worth. I think carnival got tired of doing it several ways and just decided to wait to day 2 to start cheers. Like the solo supplement on 1A, this was long in the past.

Royal has a special limited menu including a texas beer you can only get while in texas waters. Their drink packages start immediately as soon as you board. Royal lots away their texas stamped beers and liquors and goes to their regular menu as soon as they reach international waters. It is odd how every line does it a little differently.

My issue with carnival is they dont carry a reasonable german wine. I ordered it twice and they keep giving me some super sweet Italian wine. They obviously are not very good on wine if they think they taste similar. I tried cheers twice and just wasnt for me.
