Worst Cabins ?

Hi Monica: I just read your question regarding Galaxy Cabin 4062. We were on the Galaxy in August and had Cabin 4066, which I believe is right next door. We heard a terrible banging noise for the first 2 nights we were on the ship (starting around 12:00 - 1:00 a.m.), and lasting for about an hour or so. It sounded like large barrels banging against one another. After 2 nights of listening to this and losing much needed sleep, and the staff not being able to figure out where the noise was coming from, they moved us up to Cabin 8247. This was definitely a much quieter cabin (although there was a lot of vibration when the ship came into port and left port - but more tolerable than being awakened in the middle of the night!):rolleyes: . Anyway, if possible, I would see if you could move your cabin, because I think you'll be hearing those awful "barrel banging" noises:eek: .

Just found your message to me. There are only 3 cabins left: 4140, 4142, and 4146. Any comments on these? They are aft and my current cabin, 4062 is midship.

As for the service door: I noted this while I walk the halls for exercise. So there is a door there. The reps that answer the phone probably have never been on a cruise and would not know the little things we talk about here.

I also think that someone else mentioned this on another thread.

Now...the annoyance of doors opening and closing may not bother anyone but me. Cabin doors could be just as noisy, as we have found when next to a room full of kids!

I would not want another room on the port side, going North to Alaska..you will love the scenery there. Same side for South America from BA to Santiago.

Once X gave us an "upgrade" by moving us from the starboard to port and I had a major issue with that. They finally moved us back to starboard after my TA really complained, and that is when we had 8082, a great cabin.

 

Keep looking at rooms available, and closer to final payment time some open up if you decide to change.

 

Maybe someone else can give some info?

I am in room 7171 on the Connie for the TA in September. The balcony seems to be slightly bigger albeit an odd shape. Anyone know about this room.

I can't vouch for cabins 4140, 4142 or 4146. I wish I could be of more help. I do know that while some friends of ours on the ship heard the same noises, there were others on the same deck in different areas who did not hear the noise.

Roe I was in room 7174 on the Constellation just a week ago and the room is very nice. The balcony(also mine) is an irregular shap because of the design of the ship. There wre two chair and a table out there. Plenty of room outside and inside. The showers were big and we had plenty of storage for our stuuf. You will love the location and the ship. Have a great time.

Seen lots of posts complaining about noise through connecting doors on millie class. Is this a problem with all connecting cabins or just certain ones. We will be in 6049 on the Millie in Feb.:confused:

Does anyone have any comments about mid-ship inside Vista (deck 9) cabins on the Century? For example, cabins 9074-9201? Or does anyone know what is in the empty space shown on the deck plans for the mid-ship inside cabins? We would attempt to avoid the ones next to the stairs, but other than those? Vista deck seems to have a number of inside cabins for the itinerary we are planning on booking, so we would appreciate any comments on those cabins.

I just read your review.

 

I have to agree with you about everything you said

as we saw most of that on the SUMMIT during our

cruise. That casino smoke is a real turn off.

Lucky for us, that ciggie smoke saved us from

losing our $10, as you did ;)

 

"Celebrity hosted an Oktoberfest in the Fleet bar. The food wasn’t that great and it wasn’t all German food! I expected to see knockwurst and Wiener schnitzel. The potato salad was NOT German potato salad. Tony said the hotdogs were very good."

 

The SUMMIT also had an Octoberfest, as we were in port in Hilo

for the sail-a-way party. It was awesome. We had two different

types of knockwursts, weinerschnitzel, even strudels..

with REAL German ooom-pah music and, bier..

My only complaint, more people showed up then they had tables and, seatings. It was hard to find a table..I did not understand that. :rolleyes:

The Octoberfest was very popular for everyone attending...

 

We signed for a cruise tour to Alaska next July.

One of our choices was to do the Black Sea, but,

Susan won out... (the round trip to Rome on the

airlines was the stopper..:(

I booked a week ago and because I was 55+ I was able to get an assigned cabin 8107 forward (cat 2A), instead of a "guarantee" for the same price. Based on your collective experiences, would I have been better off with the guarantee and a possible upgrade to somewhere more midship. My wife is in a wheelchair and being so forward, I will have to do a lot of pushing for 12 days.

 

Can you request a cabin change when you check in? In which case, what happens to your luggage that usually doesn't appear until dinner or thereafter.

 

I was able to get off wait list for early seating because my wife is a diabetic.

In the past I have left the wheelchair outside the cabin; but I read that you can't any longer. Have you seen wheelchairs outside cabins. It is a risk since once a found ours stolen by a group of teens doing wheelies on the aft deck.

He claimed that it was his grandmothers and they scattered when I told them I was going to call security, which I did.

Is there no possibility of getting one of the cabins for handicapped passengers? Does X know of your need of one? If not, call X ASAP and let them know you'd like to be waitlisted. If you're Captains Club, even better, call them!

We have room 1049 on Mercury booked for Jan 19th Mexican Riveria cruise. It is an inside sideways cabin, which I hear is roomier, but is located the deck below the pool. Anyone with experience with this room, or one close to it??

Cabin #8046 on Infinity (Millennium class ships) is Concierge Class, on Panorama deck, starboard (right hand) side, forward, near forward elevator bank, with a larger than typical balcony. It is below Sky deck, and above Vista deck, both of which are passenger stateroom decks. It, and its port-side counterpart, 8045, are regarded as better-than-average cabins on Millennium-class ships. If you use the search tool, or Google, you may be able to find pictures of the balcony.

I have 8045 booked on Millennium next year.

My friends and I are going for the CHEAP rate and took the inside cabins on the Plaza deck. I have been on a few cruises and I have found that unless I am going to be alone with my husband, the cabin just really doesn't matter. All that said, does anyone have any experience on the Century Plaza level floors after the renovation?

I was booked in 2185 (OV) on the Millie, and the room was terribly noisy. Not only did we hear kitchen prep noises from about 4 AM on , but it was also next to the entrance to crews quarters which made for non stop noise at all hours.
