Carnival Secrets they usually don't tell you about

Is bottled water included on the soda card? My son is a big water drinker, but not much of a coke drinker.

I always stop at Walmart on the way to the ship and pick up a 36 of bottled water. I put it in my suitcase, and it lasts me the whole cruise.

If you forget, there is always a store or two on shore that will have cheap bottled water.

I believe in paying a fair price for something. They are taking advantage of people. I have never done this....because I have never thought of it:p

I just might now:rolleyes:

When's the last time you've had a professional picture taken? I agree the prices are high but they are no higher than any professional charges. We have family pictures taken professionally every few years to give pictures of all the grandkids to my parents. Not to mention our daughter got married a couple of years ago and I can assure you I paid MUCH more per picture for those pictures than we pay on the ship!

Now I'm not saying you aren't paying more than you do for the 99cent special at wal mart :p but I gladly pay what Carnival charges based on my experience with photographers in our area.

Taking pics of pics is not a "little sneaky" it is completely dishonest. It is actually stealing, and it is not allowed. If you want the pic, pay for it. If you don't, throw it away.

Dan

If we got into formal clothing and posed in the exact same area on a non-formal night and took our own beautiful pictures on a digital camera that we can print and share is that stealing too??? They do overcharge on the pics. I even tell them I want to skip them onboard and at ports, and Carnival "corrals" you into them. It's a waste across the board for me and for them and they force the issue.

That "other" big cruise line charges for cappichino, but the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) has never been charged on Carnival.

The "Fish n Chips" spot one deck above Lido has some really good sea food. That's aboard "Conquest" class ships. Many people never know it's there!

I THINK YOU'RE FOOLING YOURSELF IF YOU THINK THE PHOTOGRAPHERS ON THE SHIPS ARE STILL PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED INDIVIDUALS? THERE ARE SOOOOO MANY SHIP PHOTOGRAPHERS ONBOARD EACH SHIP NOW AND SOOOOO MANY PICTURES CONSTANTLY BEING TAKEN THAT RARELY IS ANYONE PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED. TAKE A LOOK NEXT TIME AT THE PHOTO GALLERY AND JUDGE THE CENTERING, LIGHTING (SAY FOR OUTDOOR PICS), ETC FOR YOURSELF.

I agree these are not professional photographers on the ship. We had a stack of photos on our last cruise and only thought 6 were worth buying. Why? The poises they put us in and the lighting were horrendous.

I used to model (years ago granted, but even then they were much better than on the ship), I feel I know something about proper poising. I won't say to know anything about proper lighting, but I can tell when it is wrong.

Has anyone ever told you that typing in all caps is considered shouting? Are you shouting at me?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it is my opinion that the people who believe Carnival over charges for their photographs are not people who are accustomed to having professional photographs taken.

As for myself - I buy the photos that I feel are good and the ones that aren't...I just don't buy them. I do the same thing when I have a photographer take professional photos on land. If they turn out good I buy them and if they aren't good I don't buy them. However...I know what people charge to take photographs and I for one am not shocked nor appalled at what Carnival charges.

Another secret is that you can see your neighbors Boinking on the Balcony if you shine your flashlight just right around the divider and reflect it off the glass...

And exactly WHY would I want to watch???

Just tongue & cheek folks...

Trying to play into the fear of the folks who have posted that you better be aware that your reflections can be seen from the balconies adjacent to yours thru the cracks.

A true Balcony Boinker would never be dissuaded by such talk... :D

LOL - those are NOT professional pictures, those are just 'pictures', and they happen to be for sale!

Taking a picture of a 'NOT professional' picture will not professionalize it either.

That being said, my belief is that Carnival is infringing on my rights by forcing me to get my picture taken, so I wouldn't feel bad about taking a pic of their pic - if that upsets them, then great. :p

And the Captain reserves the right to KICK YOU OFF at the next port. Read your cruise contract.

Flying home from an unscheduled port at your cost I bet will be "slightly" more than the cost of that cruise photo you took a "free" picture of.:D

I like the plastic envolopes for the laynards, I put my sign and sail and my ID in it (and a few bucks just in case I need something). It's much easier than sticking all that in my pocket, carrying a bag or searching for Hubby since it's in his wallet. Makes getting on and off the ship easier too.

I use a bra stash that hooks onto the straps of your bra and then you push it down inside your bra, for holding extra cash. I use the casino lanyards for my S&S card. You can purchase the bra stash off of the internet. Any place that sells luggage and travel stuff, sometimes sells them.

When you want the fish to come close, for great pics etc., tear the corner off the little bags and squeeze you have great fish food. :) Just remember to tuck the empty bags in your swim suit to return to the boat and don't leave them behind in the water.

Just make sure you're not doing this in a protected marine area...like the reefs off of Chankanaab in Cozumel. The Mexican Feds might get you.

Thank You..for the mention of the Feds!!!!

I have seen this type of info on several boards & it is so distressing.

We have never had the opportunity for so many people to be so close to so many beautiful places & have the ability to interact with the natural inhabitants as we do now.

However we ALL have the responsibility not to tresspass

& certainly not to alter.

If you want to "swim with the fish" learn the least intrusive way to do so. Don't feed them useless food that destroys their health.

Fish are attracted to colour....coloured beads in a good spill proof container, hanging from your wrist will attract fish without damaging them.

Mexico is a poor country & yet the amount of volunteer effort as well as money the people put into protecting their turtles, fish & coral only to have "visitors" doing thoughtless things to endanger their wildlife must be very disheartening.

Please research your ideas before implementing them. For everyones sake.:o

I had never heard this beads like a colorful bracelet right. That's a great idea.

We do it at theme parks and stuff because their pictures are absolutely outrageous to buy. They're not like amazing quality, but you can certainly see the picture clear.

That's a link to one we did over the summer at Disney. It's not the best because there were so many people, but you can still what the picture is of.

wow that is good what did you use to take the picture?

Oh lighten up:p

I guess I won't be doing this since Steamboatin just informed me I could get kicked off at the next port...now that would be a very expensive photo:eek:

They set the pic. They took the pic. They developed the pic. They placed it on display for sale. That all costs money. And when they throw away the ones people don't want or aren't good, that costs money too. The price, too high? Don't buy. Thievery is not an option.

If you take your own pics, film or digital, you shot them, good or bad, you paid [i hope] for the camera. You get them developed or print them. They're yours, same as the ship ones are NOT your until you pay for them/

And $20. for a picture of the quality they produce is cheap. Much less than you'd pay from a professional on shore. Who well might be no better trained than the photogs aboard.

And for those who think because the shipboard photogs are not professionals, its OK to steal their work. They are professionals, they do what they do for money. That makes them pros. That's all there is to the "oldest profession." They do it for money. And if you steal their work to save money, you are a professional thief!

And stealing someones work to end up with a blurry, crappy, copy, makes you a thief and a fool.
