D1 Balcony cabin 6644 on Voyager.

I've seen pictures online of what the cabin should "generally" look like.

It shows the sitting area at the entrance and the bed in the rear of the room by the sliding glass doors (to the balcony). Do any of you know if these rooms are really set up like this? We're just curious to figure out what our room will be like with two pack-n-plays setup in the sitting area.

EXTREMLY crowded.

beds are always by the doors- how old are the kids that they could share the sofa bed instead of pack and plays?

Are you aware that the balcony on deck 6 is made from steel and not plexiglass? to get the plexiglass move up one deck

serene56: thanks for posting the picture. wow - that IS going to be crowded. The babies will be 10.5 months. One does gymnastics in her crib right now and the other sleeps fairly still. I would be worried about one of them flinging herself off the sofa bed.

Also, our cruise is the first of March, so we can't change. Plus, our TA put us on that floor in order to be on the same floor as two other rooms in our party.

What r u gonna do for transportation around the ship for the kids? remember that stuff takes up room in the cabin also.

PS- if you got the pack and plays onboard--take your own sheets- you jsut dont know what kinds of detergents they use for their sheets

I've made a few changes of cabins trying to find the best one for my eastbound transatlantic on the Century. Main concerns being a good location to minimize ship movement (I get seasick if water too rough) and being able to use the balcony. I have heard starboard is better for this route. I switched to 9162, Serene56 do you have any info on this cabin? Or anyone who has booked this one before - thanks in advance for your help! :)

Re Conquest 2288 - I was in 2342 on Glory, just down the hall. That's a good location, obviously close to the elevators, so you may hear some noise from folks who seem to forget that once they're away from the public areas, it's time to turn down the volumn. But it's very convenient to the elevators/stairs.

Note that if you want to go aft on the ship, rather than take that set of elevators/stairs, go back to the rear ones. That puts you on the other side of the galley. You can tell from the deck plans where the galley is. Even on Main deck, there's a big white space between those two sets of stairs. From the rear set, you can go up to the Platinum Dining room or straight up to the buffet.

We booked a guarantee room on the Ecstasy (sailing in 2 weeks). We just received docs and the cabin assigned to us is U5. I've had issues with motion sickness on my first cruise, but the patch has helped with that on every cruise since. Unfortunately, the last couple of times using the patch, my eyes become severely dilated, to the point I can't enjoy all the sparkling jewelery under the glass and lights in port!! :-( So, I was considering cutting the patch in half this time. Should I be worried about motion? If so, I'll risk the dilated eyes and wear the whole patch.

Check the "ask a cruise question" board for many seasick remedy threads. Or Google for "seasick remedies."

I won't wear the patch, despite having had motion sickness issues my entire life. I drink and simply cannot tolerate it.

Switched from Dramamine to Bonine and added Ginger.

Three cruises now and NO problems at all. I swear the Ginger has made all the difference. Don't even take the Bonine now unless it's a really rough night.

I've never done a guarantee. Once you're assigned, is it possible to call and get moved to a different location within that category? I don't know why they'd care. Couldn't hurt to ask.

I can't answer your questions but the first thing that jumped into my mind when you said you have motion sickness is, "Why would a person with motion sickness take a chance booking a guarantee?". I'm not asking this to be mean (those that know me know I'm not that kind of person) but it does spark my curiosity as to why someone would risk being uncomfortable oppossed to selecting a cabin that might provide some relief. If that was all they had and you had to go on that ship./sailing - maybe you were stuck.

Location is the main reason I don't book guarantees - because I have had sea sickness a couple times.

You can "try" to get moved but they will probably ask you the same question I just did. I wish you luck.

Im with the above poster-- whywould you book a guarantee cabin when you have problems with motion sickness??

I would NOT cut a patch in half. There is a reason its whole.

Look into ginger-- even the sea bands.

You are also located on the side of the ship-- where you will hear the anchor drop--be prepared because it will be quite loud.

For future trips-- please book a certain cabin--lower midship.

WE have been buying ginger pills from the health food store for years. It does the trick for us. Last year we cruised almost through a hurricane. We were fine but our tablemates were getting seasick. Gave them some of our ginger pills and they returned to the dining room 15 minutes later and said there stomachs were back to normal. You might give them a try.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions. As for "why I booked a guarantee cabin"...well, I actually didn't (and wouldn't). My boyfriend did. The cruise is a birthday present from him (will actually be celebrating my birthday on the cruise). He has gotten a few really good upgrades in the past and was hoping for the best, I guess. :-) I'll check about a cabin change, and if not possible, I'll look into the ginger. Thanks again!!

I knew there had to be a good explaination. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

I wondered what anyone thinks about the forward balcony Caribe cabins on Sapphire princess. C115-C205 and the like. Starboard. Northbound Alaska. Any thoughts? I didn't have the option for an aft starboard, which I'm sure would have been most peoples first choice. So...forward starboard on Caribe?

Thanks!

We have recently returned from a week on the Crown Princess (similar design to the Sapphire???), where we had a forward Caribe balcony on the starboard side (C215). In terms of location, we thought it was fine -- close enough to the staircase to run down to the casino or plaza, or even up to the buffet (helped to work up an appetite).

We did not feel much in terms of ship movement either. HOWEVER, there seems to be a problem with the way the balcony door is adjusted -- it tends to rattle and groan, particularly if the wind hits it, so if you are a light sleeper it can be annoying. It didn't seem to bother my husband, but most nights my sleep was fitful because of it -- despite the wonderful beds and bed linens. This may be endemic to the Caribe deck, or may have been a fluke. Perhaps others can shed some light on the situation.

Inside cabins that sleep 2 people each- no sofa but will have a chair.

VERY ark 24 hours a day= take an alarm clock or set the phone for a wake up call- very easy to sleep away the morning.

Come out of your cabin and turn right-- go all the way to the aft elvators to get you to the food/pools.

Depending on what dining room you have--- IF you have the aft dining room--again take the aft elevator to the dining room-its the only one that takes you there.

Cabins are midship=between decks of cabin space and away from public spaces.

Do NOT live out of suit cases-- unpack and store the suitcases under the bed.

Order room service--its free. Tip a buck or two when its delivered.

Try dining room for breakfast and lunch at least once during the week

I tried just posting a general thread, but had no response - so I'm trying here ... does anyone know if this is an OK room? Any noise from overhead? I've never stayed on the Main deck before - always stayed on Empress so I'm a little worried (but any day on a ship is better than work).

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
