No, Carnival didn't send it to me. I just happened to go onto the website to check cruise prices and it was on their front page under "cruise clicks." Sometimes it's there and sometimes it isn't. I just copied the link, when I saw it.

Good evening Fred.....

 

You seem to be pretty knowledgeable....how much extra food DO they have on a cruise ship....how many days extra can they be out before they are in trouble? Just curious....

 

If I was on the Pride I would be jazzed about an extra day....but if I was waiting to board her...well that's another story!

I would say after a 7 day cruise, they probably have 3 days worth of food left so that when they dock, they only need half the stores. Fruits and Veggies would have to be replenish since they go bad first. But if they were anchored Im sure food would be sent in via Helo, I mean cans of spam and MRE's :confused:

For people that are already in Long Beach, what kind of reimbursements would they get?

 

If it were me, I'd be pushing for a full refund.

 

It would be no fun sailing with the misinformed, the uninformed, and the just out and out angry. You read it here all the time.

 

If they offer that full refund, take it and run, and rebook. You may just have to find the right person.

Wow, what news. I was just down in Long Beach tonight taking a dinner cruise and we went right by the Queen Mary and I was thinking about the people that were probably staying there for their cruise tomorrow. I pointed out to the other people with us where the Pride docks tomorrow and where we were 3 weeks ago. I guess she won't be docking there tomorrow after all.

 

I have to admit we experienced a lot of vibration on the last day a few weeks ago, but I thought maybe it was just our location aft..even though we have had aft before. I know I certainly wouldn't be upset about an extra day, but I would be very upset if I was booked for the 4th...especially if I had taken the week off and flew in from out of state.

Is we get stuck on a ship... how does it work for your airline ticket? Especially if we got it ourselves and not through the cruiselines.. and of course no insurance.

 

Did we lose our ticket? Does it get re directed or do we gotta pay the new ticket.

 

Whew--- being stuck on a ship can be costly.

Not even losing an extra days pay.

 

For the people being held up--im sure they will be reimbursed.

Booked for Pride Feb 4,we lose a day,lose Puerto Vallarta(the Best port)

And they will give us 15% off our fare and $50.00 ea onboard credit!

This is as of 9:30 pm PST.

are you serious?? 50 each for a whole day you are missing? not even mentioning a hotel you will have to book -plus meals for the day.

 

whoo-- i would want a refund of the whole thing-- and rebook.

Like the poster above mentioned-- I can only imagine sailing with a bunch of disgruntled people. Sheesh-- I would be pissed.

Please don't underestimate what the people of the 4th sailing are having to go through. In a matter of hours (after hours on a weekend at that) we've had to figure out where to stay, how to get to and from there, and back to the airport Monday for transfers to the boat. Starting off your 1st day of cruising in an airport hotel is not exactly what we planned. :( I think it's okay for us to be a bit sad.

 

On the other hand, 6 days cruising is better than none!! And I do plan to have the time of my life, even at my airport hotel. :p

 

Please send us some fix the boat fast vibes. TIA!! :)

I am with you there. And don't think for a minute that Carival isn't totally aware of the extent of the repairs and the performance of the ship if they fail to do repairs.

Why don't these things ever happen to me!

 

Wait till they see their S&S charge with the extra $10 PP for the extra day.

I happen to me on the Legend over New Years. Its not as much fun as you may think. Try to make a phone call to change you air. GOOD LUCK. The cabin phones can only handle about 20 calls at a time. Cell service is a bit better. I was able after 3 hours to call on my cell phone. 6 hours later we got a another update that it would not be a 8 hour delay but a 24 hour delay. People had to try and call again and change air again. The Lido deck was very quiet, the casino was empty, people were not that happy there 8 day cruise turned into a 9 day, Except my kids. They loved it.

Therein lies the problem. As soon as there was a delay everyone on board jumped to make their plans instead of being patient to see if that was the final word. Everyone will get home at some point. Those who are waiting to get on board, that is another story. Those on board have had their vacation. They are not sitting somewhere adrift in the Pacific with no one to help them. Those people waiting to cruise are sitting in LA with really no answers. If the ship is going to San Pedro, All of those pax have to get to the ship. If they can fix it. I agree with a previous poster about maybe getting on the ship the goes out of Long Beach tommorrow if your Pride cruise gets cancelled. It may be OK if you were already booked with Carnival as far as Homeland Security goes. Something to look into anyway.

It was a Thursday so I changed my air to Sunday the first time and stayed in Florida. The kids only missed 2 extra days of school. Everyone changed quick I think make sure they had a plane home. If I had a car at the port, that ship could have stayed out for another week I woulden't have cared.

Cehck out the previous page. I asked this and someone found a link on the site saying if you booked air independent of them, they'd reimburse up to $200 for rescheduling.

This is another reason why I like to, book a room 1 day post cruise and bring a credit card. I know for some that only use cash, it can be a problem when unexpected expenses come up at the end of the vacation.

 

Could you imagine if this happened to a ship sailing from Miami. Talk about chaos. Super bowl Sunday, not a room to be found and flights full Monday morning.

Wow, this is really too bad. I feel for everyone involved ~ both those pax stuck onboard and trying to get home, and especially for the ones who are waiting to get on the Pride for their long anticipated vacation, which is now cut short (if it really does even happen). Can they really get the Pride fixed in that short amount of time? Hope it works out ok for everyone.

 

Good luck to all of you waiting to board. I hope you get to go on your cruise.
