carnival cabins to avoid

Camp Carnival is at the very front of the ship so you should not be bothered at all by it. I am not sure where the laundry is on the deck, but on the deck below it was near the aft row of cabins.

We had cabin 4120 which is near the front of the ship and one of the entrances to the Phantom. We never heard noise from that. Our cabin was very sound proof...so much so that if we wanted to hear the announcements we had to open the door.

Have a great trip! We certainly did!

Thanks for all who replied! We're really looking forward to the trip.

Hi - does anyone have experience with the handicap cabins on the Freedom?? We are booked in 6286- as DH uses a wheelchair. When I looked at the deck plans the cabin is the same size as other insides.

Can anyone tell me what modifications are made to make these cabins accessible? I would appreciate any info!!

Donna, although I don't have any firsthand information about this...I did come across a couple links for you to check out. The first one is a link from Carnival's web site. It tells briefly of what to expect in the handicap cabins and they have a link for each ship that shows the handicap accessible routes. It also states that there are handicap accessible restrooms located throughout the ships. http://www.carnival.com/CMS/Static_Templates/EMB_guest_special_requirements.aspx

The second link is to the Disabled Cruise Travel forum here on Cruise Critic. There seems to be quite a bit of useful information there. Hopefully it will help you out! :)

Triumph - 6398 (aft balcony) and probably at least all cabins halfway down that hallway to the back as it was REALLY loud in the hall. Thump Thump Thump 5 nights out of 7 until 12:30 - 1:00. Traveling with a 4 yr old, we didn't stay up late getting smashed every night. It really put a damper on things for me. My son can sleep through a Tornado so at least it didn't affect him. Even earplugs didn't work.

Why in the world woudn't they sandwich the bars between non-cabin floors?? I could have had a different cabin on the same floor but took a TA's advice to move back to cut down on hall noise. Now I know to scrutinize the floor plans myself and make my own decision. Regardless, Carnival has to know and get complaints that rooms above these areas need sound insulation.

We had an aft L-shaped cabin 6432, i belive, on the Victory (same floor plan) and we never experienced hall noise at night. We did hear music from a lounge late on the last night of the cruise. I have to say though, that we pack a little fan in our suit case just in case their is any noise and since we are used to the noise from the fan.

Hello. Just found out we are booked into cabin 8348 on Freedom next year. Anyone been in that room or near it? It looks like it's under the restaurants, so we are wondering if it's going to be noisy?? Thanks for your help!

I have an aft room under the lido deck with a wrap around balcony. I have read good and bad comments about this room. btw thanks for all the advice:) I now have the opportunity to upgrade to a suite guarantee for the same price. Is this something any of you would do. I am new to cruising ( I took 1 cruise 7 years ago and had an inside room) and really don't know what the best choice would be.

After reading all the post about the frustrations concerning the aft room (8328), I was having second thoughts about this room. Now I don't know if I want to change. I need advice.

Thanks:D

We were on Liberty 8401 in July. We heard no noise at all. It was a great room. The laundry was just down the hall.

Usually any rooms under restaurants are not noisy because they are carpeted which absorbs sound..

Hi we have never been on a cruise before and have booked the Liberty cruising the Western Caribbean on the 9th Sept 07.

Its a surprise for our kids and there partners as we will actually be on holiday in Orlando at the time, so booked it mid hol.

Have booked cabins 7205, 7206 and 7233 on Empress deck, are these and has anybody pictures of them.

Getting a bit nervous as it seems by these posts ,that there can be problems that 1st time cruisers like myself never thought about.

Hope somebody can put my mind at rest, thanks in advance :)

7205 and 7206 are handicapped cabins and the beds do not go together. (I am surprised you were able to book both of these. I hope the agent told you that if someone needed them and show need you could be moved.

These are cabins across the front of the ship- they have an obstructed view. The view is a public deck outside your window- But very few people know its there so it doesnt get used much.

Its like your own private balcony.

the view:

the beds sit headboard to headboard-

its a long walk to the buffet food and pools.

More then likly you will get the golden Olympic dining room for a 6:15 or 8:30 dining--

Since Fort Lauderdale is quite a distnace from Orlando may I suggest driving in the night before and spending that night in Fort Lauderdale so you can arrive fresh and not travel tired for your cruise

Serene56 thank you for taking the time to answer.

Dont know what to do now as i never knew they were handicapped rooms and that the view wasent good.

I looked at the deck plans and it showed that my children 24 and 19 and there partners 19 and 25 wouldnt be too far away from us in 7233.

Thought they would have a view of the ocean even though they didnt have a balcony. We are from the UK and i asked some friends of ours in Orlando to specifically book these rooms because of the closeness to us , as said before. Told you i was new to cruising :) :o . Can i change those cabins and which should i go for so that they have a good view and wouldnt be toooo far away. Do you think i should get them a balcony cabin if there are some near us.?

Sorry to be a pain. Thanks

I just came across this thread and went to look at the location of my room. I'm in room 6326 I believe on the upper deck on the Destiny. It's right ABOVE the criterion lounge and now I'm a little worried and would rather be moved somewhere else if at all possible. Has anyone been in or near this cabin? It seems we are above all of the action. The club, lounges, the shops, etc. etc.

I actually checked your sailing and there isnt muchleft to chose from. Those cabins across the front are not that far from you-- the next choice will be the main deck which really is TOO far. Balcony cabins on the same deck as you will costs you about 300pp to go there.

Like I said-- the only cabins available are those handicapped cabins. Thats why you were able to book both of them. Sailing is soon.

Personally= I would leave them where they are. The view there is ok- they wont be in the cabin all that much. and if they really wanted to sit outside for a view-- go sit on the promanade deck and watch the waters pass.

The cabins are nice-- and will serve their purpose. You just needed to be aware of what they look like. Because they are handicapped cabins they are bigger then a normal cabin so your family are getting bigger for the same amount of money

if you are heading to bed early then yes you want to move your cabin.

But around midnight-- you will be fine.

We had 6350 on Destiny. and 6440 on Victory and were fine. Heard thump thump in the hallway but not in the cabin.

My cabins were directly over the Lounge back there. your cabin is directly over an entrance not the stage area.

But you are in an inside cabin and these cabins are EXTREMLY dark 24 hours a day-- take an alarm clock or your body will think its night time and stay sleeping.

We just got back and I wanted to let you all know that these cabins are right above the casino. would not recomend any of these cabins that are above casino, we could here everything :the anouncments, the slot machines etc.

And casino is open till way pass 1am and opens at 9am on the sea day.

Hi,

I had cabin 2278 on the Liberty which is an oceanview cabin. When I checked the floor plan, it showed that we were right below the excursion desk so I thought we would be okay.

Around 5am every morning for 7 nights straight, we heard tables and chairs being dragged over our heads.. There was also a "swishing" sound of water that literally sounded like we were below the pool.

Engineers, Hotel Mgrs, Purser Mgrs all came to our cabins numerous times at 3 and 4 am in the morning to listen to the noise and could not give an explanation as to what was going on....

Avoid this cabin if you are a light sleeper..

We had aft balcony rooms 7449, 7451, and 7453 on Glory- they were great. Quiet, extended balconies, did get a stray cig. butt thrown by some idiot above, but it was not bad. The Empress is between two other cabin floors, so this probably kept it quieter. We didn't hear much of anything, we also took along a small fan for noise.

Great topic............

Glory Main Deck 2332 & 2336

My PVP said that these two rooms were below the Golden Dining room and "we should have no problem"

Well the connecting rooms go so fast I just took it:eek:

There will be 2 in one room & 3 kids in the other. Since there is carpeting in the dinning room.............well.......... what do you think about these rooms.:D

Michelle...it looks like your room was below the restrooms?? Curious what was going on in there:cool:

If I were the superstitous type I'd say it's the spirit of a prior passenger in that cabin who probably drowned overboard... hence the splashing ;)

Hi experienced cruisers,

My wife and I have booked our first for next December and are staying in room 8312 on the verandah deck of the Glory. I know that the odds are amazingly slim of someone else having been in that room, but I am curious as to whether or not this is a decent area to be in (although I guess I couldn't do anything about it now!). Thanks in advance,

Brad

Hi Brad. Welcome to cruising and to Cruise Critic! :)

I ran a search and found a person that has stayed in cabin 8312 twice on the Glory. The first time they liked it...it was nice and quiet. The second time they didn't like it and won't stay in that cabin again. Here's the post I'm referring to:

First let me say, I really like Deck 8, it's close to the pool, etc.

We have had cabins on Deck 8 twice. In 3/04 we had cabin #8312 and it was great. No noise, great location, etc.

However, in 6/05 we had cabin #8312 and listened to the scraping of chairs all night. It drove me nuts. So much so that on our cruise coming up this June, I made sure it wasn't over the outside table & chair area.

I'm not a complainer and didn't say anything on the trip, I just would prefer not to listen to the scraping on future cruises.

Here's the link to that thread. It was post #5. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=336987&highlight=8312

If you decide you don't want to keep that cabin, you can switch to a different one. You just need to call whomever you booked your cruise with (your TA or a PVP at Carnival, etc). Since your cruise is some ways away, I'm guessing there will be plenty of cabins available to choose from. Actually, I just did a quick check on an online site and there are 10 cabins listed in the same general area as 8312, and 6 of those cabins are sandwiched between cabins below and above. (I'd bet there are quite a bit more available, that's just all that showed up on that particular site).

I'd say there's a fairly good chance you'll hear noise from above in 8312. It's up to you whether you decide to change or not....but I would if it were me. :)

Welcome to cruise critic Brad. Dont ever think you cant do anything about your upcoming cruise for 2008. Keep checking prices every week on carnival web page and if it comes down you want to be on the phone with the agent getting the refund.

I personally dont like the area. Under the lido deck pool is where people complain about hearing scraping of chairs.

Want bigger for less money-- see if any cabin on the aft- directly across the back of the ship- on the empress level- between decks of cabins and away from public area.

you will have the wake of the ship - quiet and relaxing. Reading these boards will show you the aft cabins are highly sought after space.

Brad.............you are in luck...........

That's our room...........We liked it so much on the Glory last year, we booked the same room on the Liberty for this Sept.

The good and bad........room 8312 is the very last room to have this overhang thing from the deck above....no obstruction but...it was wonderful when it rained:) and for the sun. In one port it started raining one hour before we were to leave. We sat out on our veranda watching all the folks running back to the ship...(we had already done that earlier) and the overhang kept us dry....same with the Princess ship across from us..no one could be out on the balcony due to the rain.

Plus the same for the sun...........

However.........the chair scraping.....it only bothered me around 3-5pm

that was when we went to our room to relax from the day, shower, enjoy a cocktail on the balcony........you know quiet time.

So the next day we mapped out this "overhang", went up one deck to see exactly where we were.......if you look on the deck plans you will see a white spot on the Lido deck, your room is half/half under this storage space and the absolute tiny corner of the Lido where the little round tables are.

The scraping was the afternoon small group of card players....no big deal.

I never heard them at night and I am a very light sleeper.

I hope we have the same luck this year........good luck to you:D and hoped this helps
