Rachy817 Posted May 14, 2007 #176 Share Posted May 14, 2007 Glory # 8377 Lido deck was above so the obvious chair dragging and thumping at night. But the best part of the room was all the crew rooms across the hall. Filling ice buckets, carts rolling, loud talking, loud bumps and other great noises at 6am! Has anyone got any discounts on their next cruise from carnival because of a complaint about the room?
Diane F Posted May 14, 2007 #177 Share Posted May 14, 2007 I am going to book Cat. 6A on the Valor. It is on the Riviera deck.Anyone have any comments, good or bad,of cabin numbers to pick.Am swaying towards middle of that deck.Should we stay away from elevators?I assume it is crew quarters below us.Is that correct?Have stayed on this deck on other ships before and never had a problem with noise.I kknw the calmest part is the lowest deck and towards the center. lovethewater! Posted May 14, 2007 #178 Share Posted May 14, 2007 I will bring earplugs and headphones...if I can't drown out the world around me, I will make some pleasant noise of my own. (by the way, i already sleep with earplugs...they make me focus on my sleep)
SoCalCruiserGal Posted May 14, 2007 #179 Share Posted May 14, 2007 Although I would have to say that I loved being on the Verandah deck with alot of our friends and it helped to meet new ones, plus we had a great room steward and we were close to the elevators, Verandah deck Cabin #8347 will wake you up in the early morning hours with the chairs moving back and forth on a regular basis. The evening hours weren't bad at all since that side closed down pretty early, but with the cleaning and breakfast, there was no way to sleep in soundly. Mind you we had no problem sleeping, but it wasn't the most quiet. Either way, we had a great cruise, but I most likely wouldn't chose that cabin again. No offense to the cabin of course. =)
Friscorays Posted May 14, 2007 #180 Share Posted May 14, 2007 According to MSNBC, 4226 on the Legend is to be avoided: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18660649/ Who says there is no such thing as bad publicity? How about the compensation offer of a bottle of champagne and some strawberries! Laughable.

star65 Posted May 14, 2007 #182 Share Posted May 14, 2007 Just read the msnbc article in this thread and now I'm nervous - we booked 7301 on Miracle (cat 9A) because it is a nice large room with roomy balcony, but it is right behind elevator and has a white area in front of it. Also, someone told me they thought it was an obstructed view balcony but Carnival says it isnt. We live on our balcony, that's why we wanted a large one, and if it's obstructed it would really ruin our vacation - anyone have any details about this cabin or any like it on spirit class? Thanks! How about the compensation offer of a bottle of champagne and some strawberries! Laughable. 4226 and 4235 are BIG BIG "AVOID" suites... At most, they should list these as Cat 9A's... Those two cabins have come up in discussion many times. Interesting to see it on MSNBC... Perhaps some type of disclaimer will soon come with those cabins! caribbean dreams Posted May 14, 2007 #184 Share Posted May 14, 2007 4226 and 4235 are BIG BIG "AVOID" suites... I guess they should have asked us here at CC about the cabin instead of a Carnival rep.;)
LHP Posted May 14, 2007 #185 Share Posted May 14, 2007 CRUD!!! We have Verandah deck room 829*on the victory...can someone tell me how bad this will be? It seems to be right under the stage area of the lido deck. I am really scared about this becuase I am a very light sleeper. I just dont want to hear noise in the AM. PM noise is Ok. How hard is it to get your cabin changed when your less than 30 days from sailing?? Gee I really hate posting my cabin number.:( How did your cruise go?? We will be on the Victory in September (although in a different cabin).

kkw1043 Posted May 15, 2007 #188 Share Posted May 15, 2007 How about cabin 7339 on the Glory? We have booked this cabin for October this year. I hope it a good one!
staciah Posted May 17, 2007 #189 Share Posted May 17, 2007 I just booked the Carnival Legend Riviera Deck in cabin 1211 which is right next to the elevator. Trying to decide if I should switch to 1163 which is just below the casino and Legends Cafe. Which one would have the least amount of noise? alphakitty Posted May 17, 2007 #190 Share Posted May 17, 2007 Does anyone have insight on what the large blank area on the deck plan is for Spirit on Main Deck 4?? This area runs between 4170 after the Atrium all the way to 4200. Thanks in advance for any help offered. :)
adaleyldaley Posted May 17, 2007 #191 Share Posted May 17, 2007 Just got back from my cruise on the Valor. I took the guarantee option and was assigned cabin 8445, which is on the back of the ship just under the rear pool area. It was the cabin from hell. The sound of deck chairs being dragged across the deck above me sounded just like thunder. There seemed to be someone moving the chairs night and day. Apparently Carnival didn't bother to put any sound deadening between the decks. I would avoid all cabins on the back half of varandah deck unless you are a very deep sleeper. That is why you need to stay one deck below
iamgolden Posted May 17, 2007 #192 Share Posted May 17, 2007 did you book a suite gurantee?? The deck plans clearly mark certain cabins on this class of ship are obstructed- for that reason I dont think I would take a chance-- there isnt that many suites. Serene, I booked Cat 11 guar and had some high hope I would get upgraded to a 12. When I found out which room I was in (V42) I was assured by another poster that the obstructed view "wasn't that bad". I had never sailed this class before and didn't know better. Wow, check out this scene from my balcony, this was my view from the right, center and middle. Live and learn, my next cruise I chose my Cat 11 on the Legend! I would've been a little upset about the lack of the balcony/view after having booked such a high category. It looks like that's the staircase in the "view." Was there much activity on it? I hope you still had fun on your cruise! I agree....live and learn. :(

cruzincurt Posted May 20, 2007 #195 Share Posted May 20, 2007 Just back from the Liberty. On purpose took a cabin on the Upper Deck 6 to avoid the chair shuffling above from the Lido. However, we had 6425 which was quiet except that it is right across from a white area on the deck plan. That white are is the crew prep area. The access door was directly across from our cabin door. Everytme they pulled a wheeled cart in and out, it banged over the threshold. This went on all day and night. Pick a cabin several doors away from this one and it would be fine. imacruiser2 Posted May 20, 2007 #198 Share Posted May 20, 2007 We just got off the Spirit and our room was 8191 on the Panorama deck, under the Lido deck. It was a nightmare. The kitchen carts ran across our ceiling all night and when we complained they stopped from 12 to 4 in the morning, then resumed all morning and all day. We were unable to move for 7 days and then an accident, where people had to leave the ship, opened up another cabin. We gladly moved inspite of the inconvience, as we were doing a B2B and we were supposed to be in that room for 19 day. I don't know how far this room is from our room, but I would check it out and move if you can. We will be on the Triumph in Nov in room 9278, Lido Deck anyone with infor in this room. Thanks

Thanks It sounds like you guys did the same B2B that we have planned for 2009. Starting in Honolulu (12 day Hawaii) heading to Vancouver, then a 7-day (Alaska). Is that what you did? I have read many tales on B2B's but was not sure if anything different occurred in Vancouver. Did you have to leave the ship for just a short time, then re-board ahead of the masses? Were you able to keep your (new) cabin for the second leg as well? Thanks!!! Tom
imacruiser2 Posted May 20, 2007 #200 Share Posted May 20, 2007 Yes, we did the Hawaii to Alaska cruise, 19 days total. It was an awesome cruise, after we got in a room we could get some sleep. We did have to move again, when we reached Vancouver, but the crew moved us that time. You still have to pack up your suitcases, but they move them to your next room. We were escorted off the ship, and then you could go visit Vancouver if you wanted or come right back on the ship. However you had to decide whether to leave the ship at 8:00am or 12:00pm, there were no other choices. When we were ready to get back on, it went very smoothly, we didn't have to wait in any lines except customs, but that was very brief. All in all it was a great cruise and we would do it again, just stay away from room 8191, and those rooms close by. Still hoping to get some info on room 9278, Triumph, Lido deck.
