carnival cabins to avoid

Don't book a cabin under the gym, either. Our friends did that once, and all of the weight-lifting maniacs were in the gym early every morning dropping the weights on the floor. Thud, thud, thud.

I agree.... on the Triumph beware the Panorama Deck rooms 1007-1025 (Balcony and Inside.) Right under the weights. And the fools start at 6AM... no way to greet the morning if you have a hangover.

On Spirit class ships we sail exclusively in aft (corner) deck 4 balconies. Only RARELY, perhaps thanks to the overhang on that deck, have we ever noticed any soot. We have noticed it a couple of times when in aft cabins on the Glory (little/no overhang above). Simple emissions from the burning of fuel, and I would think that little could be done about it (without impacting your cruise fare). It has only been a slight annoyance for us - the cigarettes in the casino are another matter entirely, but at least with that I am aware of the exposure and risks - and it's voluntary!

It is to bad that Carnival can not put plexiglass up across the back of those areas so idiots can't throw things overboard onto the balconies.

There is plexiglass on the Conquest class ships already right? Or am I crazy?

Has anybody stayed in one of the cabins behind the first set of elevators ... the set of 3 on each side and then the glass elevators are near there , too? I need to know if the thick wall facing cabin 6272 is just a wall, or is it a steward's space or ice machine? Also, was there a lot of traffic going right in front of this cabin due to so many elevators in that area, or not many people tended to walk forward from there?

Thanks you.

Who... ME?? :D

Tom

I was tryimg to be polite just in case you were serious.

We had an aft wrap on the Valor and an extended balcony on the Conquest. Never had a problem with trash from the Lido. Maybe the plexiglass prevented that from happening. ;) :p :D

We have never had a problem with being near the elevators, they have a wall that seems to block things, I am concerned however as to where the ice makers are. We are booked on 7406 and 7408 on the Freedom. They are near the elevators, but also a white block area just in front of us, Could that be the Ice machine?

Also, can anyone tell me how to find out where the self service laundry room is? Thanks!

The white block across from 7406 & 7408 looks pretty small on the deck plan to be laundry, but could be the ice machine. The only thing in the room is an ice machine and soda machine ($1.75 per 12 oz can), so it doesn't take up too much room. It's really hard to tell without actually KNOWING where they are. The self serve laundry is also in the white block areas.

When you get to your cabin look in the book they supply and it will tell you where all the self serve laundry areas are on the ship. There was a diagram on the back of our door that showed the exit route, and that had the ice machine marked on it as well. This was on the Triumph, I don't know if the other ships are the same way.

I took a Western Caribbean cruise in December. This was a treat just for me...I went solo, did not book a single excursion and planned to enjoy sleeping in every morning.

I had booked a 4A, had the opportunity to upgrade to a 6A and jumped on the chance. I ended up with 1354.

This room just happened to be directly across from the closet where all the housekeeping supplies are kept. So like clockwork, from 6-9 am every morning, I would hear this closet door open, close, open, close, "rustle", "rustle", "rustle" as the stewards took what they needed from the closet. This also seemed to be the gathering place for the stewards to have their morning "water cooler" discussions.

Needless to say, I didn't sleep in...but the noice was worth it to have an OV room at the price I paid...I just ended up taking more afternoon siestas!

We were in aft cabins under the adult pool area ***** both the Spirit and the Legend. Can honestly say we never had a problem with noise. Yes, you could sometimes hear them moving chairs but it was so muffled as to not be a problem.

As a matter of fact, we are booked by choice in the same area of the Liberty this summer. We love bing in the back of the ship as the halls are quieter and it is so convenient to the Lido one deck above.

Triumph - 6398 (aft balcony) and probably at least all cabins halfway down that hallway to the back as it was REALLY loud in the hall. Thump Thump Thump 5 nights out of 7 until 12:30 - 1:00. Traveling with a 4 yr old, we didn't stay up late getting smashed every night. It really put a damper on things for me. My son can sleep through a Tornado so at least it didn't affect him. Even earplugs didn't work.

Why in the world woudn't they sandwich the bars between non-cabin floors?? I could have had a different cabin on the same floor but took a TA's advice to move back to cut down on hall noise. Now I know to scrutinize the floor plans myself and make my own decision. Regardless, Carnival has to know and get complaints that rooms above these areas need sound insulation.

We were actually on Princess when we had this happen. We were below the treadmills and could hear the rythmic thump thump thump of every step. My cruise mate was up in the spa and finally figured out what this noise was and that it matched the noise of the treadmills. It was surprisingly loud, but sure didnt ruin the cruise for us. But it was noticeable. Luckily the gym didnt open until 7 am, so it was quiet until then.

There is no carpeting in the spa work out area, so sounds travel below to the cabins immediately below loudly.

Has anyone heard anything good or bad about Ecstacy R207? It looks like a pretty good location for the least expensive OV!:p

Thanks!

I don't think you will have any problems with that cabin, it is near the elevators, which is a good thing and aft of the elevators tends to stay real quiet with not much hall traffic noice, i have not had that exact cabin but my DB had one just a few forward from you (r199) I spend alot of time in it a never heard a thing, there also seamed to be pleanty of room in it the way the bed configuration was.

I had 9104 on the Destiny, right below the gym.

6am, ramp up the treadmills...whirrrrrr

then thump thump thump. It sounded like a 300lb person was jogging.

I had 1205 on the triumph, (one of those secret 1a cabins that has portholes) no real noise except for them pulling into port. Then you could hear the guys yelling as they tied up.

I think the worst was the treadmills though. I don't really mind hall noises but the treadmills were bad!

We were in R23 on the Ecstasy, way in the front of where your cabin is located. We were in the biggest storm the crew said they had seen in over 6 months and the waves were big enough to slap against our "windows", loud enough to wake you up. Kinda excited too in a way to watch the waves slam against my windows over and over. But being so low it could happen.

The downside is if this happens you will have salt water speckles all over your window for the rest of the cruise.

Its easy to find little faults, but that is the only downside to the location I cant think of.

We haven't gone on our cruise yet but we have 4C inside cabin 6292 directly above the dance club on Destiny. I have heard both good and bad about this cabin. My husband and I knew what we were getting into though when we booked this cabin. We got a really good price on it. Oh, well:D:D I will be on Vacation!! Nothing can bother me.lol:D:D:D

I think the Carnival pizza is the best of any cruiseline, and Iv been on quite a few other cruiselines. Its crisp on the bottom with a hint of cornmeal or something.

The only person I have meet who got an upper/lower was a man older than me who lived separate from his wife he told me and his wife booked him into the cabin with their son who was on oxygen, so he was the one who had the upper bunk. He said it was fine with him, he was pretty agile it looked like. I just thought it was funny that the older parent got the upper bunk and the story about his wife booking him in it to save money but for herself she got a nicer cabin.

I see you are going on the Liberty soon. Would you do me a favor and check out cabins 7368 & 7370 on deck 7 and see what is across the hall from them? I would really appreciate it. Now everyone has me freaked out if a storage closet or ice machine is near my room.

Can someone tell me how are the extended balconies in the aft on conquest class ships. I have one booked on Freedom 7434 and they are right next to stairs. Also any pictures since it is not the standard shape of a cabin. Thanks.

Still haven't found the answer to this question: Cabins 6270,6272, 6274 on upper deck, right across from the back of the elevators. Does anybody know what the white space is directly across from these cabins? Is it any type of service room , or just a blank wall?

MrDood: I know you stayed here in this area... do you remember? Anybody else?

Tank you!
