cinnamon Posted July 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2007 What are the advantages of being a Diamond member of C&A on a ship that does not have a Concierge Lounge? If we sail on Grandeur will we miss the whole point of having just achieved Diamond Status? Cinnamon
wolfcathorse Posted July 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2007 The only advantage we have is the diamond level coupon book, priority check-in, and priority departure.
Murphy Posted July 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2007 What are the advantages of being a Diamond member of C&A on a ship that does not have a Concierge Lounge? If we sail on Grandeur will we miss the whole point of having just achieved Diamond Status? Cinnamon I've sailed the Grandeur 3 times as a Diamond member. If you book balcony or above cabins you get the Diamond balcony discount. We got at least one "treat" delivered to the cabin during the week. Most of the time it's a plate of choc strawberries, but we also received a cheese plate once and a plate of cookies another time. 2 years ago, we got priority tender tickets where we were told to report to the purser's desk when we wanted to tender. They then escorted us onto the next tender. This year we just got priority tickets that allowed us to board when we wanted, but we waited in line with that tender's group. There is also a Diamond/platinum cocktail party in addition to the repeaters party and the captain's cocktail party. You will also receive priority disembarking luggage tags and they had a continental breakfast set up for us in the Viking Crown lounge to wait. And as already state, the Diamond coupon book. Also, I've been getting extra "mailings" inviting us to VIP shopping seminars and art auctions, but we never go. You are also supposed to have priority waitlist for booked shore excursions but I've never tested that benefit. If I think of anything else, I'll post later... cinnamon Posted July 15, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted July 15, 2007 Thanks very much Murphy. I am not sure if we would qualify for the Diamond balcony discount booking now, as we will only attain Diamond Status next May after our next 2 cruises. Cinnamon As soon as you complete your 10th cruise you can call C&A and ask them to apply your diamond discount. :)

Murphy Posted July 15, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2007 The Diamond balcony discount for a 7 night sailing is $200, nothing to sneeze at! :) As soon as you officially become a Diamond member (and this means they have posted your official 10th credit) you can call the C & A desk and get it applied, EVEN if you've already made your final payment. They will refund you the difference. Enjoy!
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted July 15, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2007 Another advantage I have been told is that Diamond and Diamond Plus C&A members have priority seating (main or late seating) choices and table size choices in the main dining room. Thus, if you want one of those hard-to-get tables for two, your chances are better if you are in the elite levels of C&A.

If we sail on Grandeur will we miss the whole point of having just achieved Diamond Status? Cinnamon My first cruise as Diamond is on Grandeur too. Bummer about no CL, but as stated by an ealier poster, there are other perks. Plus, they're testing CL on Legend & Splendour (I think those are the two). Maybe if it works out on those two ships, they'll do the same for Grandeur before you sail.

Murphy Posted July 16, 2007 #13 Share Posted July 16, 2007 <snort> I'll believe THAT when I see it! ;) :p I agree! If they were serious about adding one to the Grandeur by 2008, why didn't they add it during the April dry dock???
Lightsluvr Posted July 17, 2007 #14 Share Posted July 17, 2007 All ships will have CL as a LA told us at the question & answer session. Please give me the name of that LA - I'd like to follow up with RCI to ask if this is factual; if not, why is the LA spreading false information? Reply, please? Thanks. isujim Posted July 17, 2007 #15 Share Posted July 17, 2007 All ships will have CL as a LA told us at the question & answer session. This is July of 07.......not saying it can't be done but there better be one heck of a dry dock schedule for a lot of ships.
Robb Posted July 17, 2007 #16 Share Posted July 17, 2007 We were on the Legend recently and they just converted the card room into a concierge lounge. It was open for the first time ever on the first day of our cruise. All they did was just change the sign and fix the door so you needed a key to get in. All this was done in one day, no dry dock required. There was no espresso machine and the drink choices were limited to beer, red and white wine and soft drinks. We thought it was great.:D
jlarew Posted July 18, 2007 #17 Share Posted July 18, 2007 If they can do that on the Legend, why not on all the ships? The card room is seldom used in the evenings. I really miss the CL when I am on the Grandeur. A plate of chocolate covered strawberries doesn't make up for the complimentary booze on the bigger ships! Host Kewlguy Posted July 18, 2007 #18 Share Posted July 18, 2007 What are the advantages of being a Diamond member of C&A on a ship that does not have a Concierge Lounge? If we sail on Grandeur will we miss the whole point of having just achieved Diamond Status? Cinnamon There are many of us who will only sail on Royal ships that have a Concierge Lounge. Royal should add the lounge to ALL of it's ships. It would benefit their most loyal customers as well as the cruise line.
