Meet & Greet ?

Hello

I set up the Meet & Greet for our rollcall group on the GEM. What should I expect? Will someone from the NCL staff be there to greet us? Do they provide any food/drinks? Do they want a sign-up sheet with our info, I read some of the posts that people who came got some perks.

I emailed the coordinator with these questions but did not hear back.

Thanks!

I have found NCL to be the best cruiseline for our Meet'n'Greets. They are really superb at doing it.

It depends on how many you have booked to come really on what they will provide and where they will hold it for you.

For example the last one I went to had about 80 members booked, it was held in the Azure restaurant, coffee, OJ, cookies etc were provided, very nicely, and many senior officers came and talked to us. Often the Captain will come but it depends on the individual Captain and what is going on at the time.

For fewer members they will probably suggest the Maltings or equivalent whisky bar in Bar City or the equivalent depending on the ship concerned. Its much less work than clearing a whole restaurant and also more intimate IF you have only up to say 40 members coming.

They don't necessarily want a signup sheet but you might, its a good way to get contact details if you want to contact members during the cruise.

I have not heard of perks as such but NCL officers are very accessible to us, unlike many other lines I have cruised on, have always provided open and honest answers to members concerns at Meet'n'Greets and even hand out their business cards with their phone numbers on if you have any problem during the cruise, something non CC members do not get.

On a Meet and Greet on the Dawn a few years ago, the Garden Villa was unoccupied, so they gave us a tour of that. It was really great!

Is there a minimum amount of people needed for NCL to assist with meet and greets? Our roll call isn't that active, but I was wondering how to go about setting up a Meet and Greet.

I'm doing it for my rollcall on the Dawn August 30, 2009 and the e-mail addre4ss is groupeventdawn@ncl.com. So I assume yours is groupeventjade@ncl.com. Hope that helps. Have fun.

We just had a Meet & Greet for our 5/10/09 Dawn Cruise to Bermuda. We had alot of officers & Dept. Heads, including the captain. It was at 10:30am & we had coffee, tea Danish & such. We had the opportunity to sign up for a drawing to eat with one of the officers. We ate with the Hotel Manager-he was a very friendly & informative fellow-we had a great time. If you enter in the drawing & get an invite, make sure that you go. We had wonderful service and wine!

All thru the cruise, the officers that were at the M & G remembered us. We felt like true VIPS. As a previous poster said, NCL really know how to do it.

I set up a Meet & Greet for our Dec 08 cruise. There were refreshments, coffee, orange juice, water, pastries and cookies.

I received a letter the first night telling me who was the NCL POC. I had printed out a roll call roster with everyone's name and room numbers. The Cruise Director had the roll call roster laminated and put into wallet size so everyone on the list could stay in contact with each other.

We had several officer's show up to the event and they remembered all of us throughout our 7-day cruise. Also, we had a sign up list of who wanted to eat with the officer's, everyone was on the guest list.

We exchanged presents (no more than $10 - $15.00) with each other. The only stipulation was it had to represent your state. For example, I am from Kentucky and we are known for Bourbon (and horses) so I brought Bourbon Balls.

Hi I did a search to find out how to set up a M & G. I have a question and hopefully you can help. We are cruising the Dawn Sept 13, 2009. I sent an e-mail to groupeventdawn@ncl.com. today. I got a standard form answer saying that they do this in order of sailing. Since it looks like you are sailing 3 week prior I was wondering if you have gotten the same response. When are you going to follow up and did anyone contact or e-mail you yet I did this a few yrs back, and you used to have to contact the group coordinator of the ship your were sailing. Any info or help would be appreciated.

Etski I received the same standard form when I emailed about scheduling the meet and greet for our cruise. A day or two later I received another email telling me that they had set up a date, time and room for ours. So you should be hearing something soon. We still have four months until our cruise.

I emailed in Feb to set up the M&G for our May 31 cruise on the Dawn. A day or two after the form letter, I got an email with the date, time and location for the M&G. I then emailed with an updated count about 2 weeks before the cruise. We had gone from 20 to 64 intending to attend. I again got the form letter and then the next morning got confirmation that the date, time and location would stay the same.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question. I will wait a few days for the follow up letter. If I don't receive it, I will send another e-mail a few weeks prior to the cruise. Happy cruising................

It's also a good idea to seek out and introduce yourself to the Cruise Director and Hotel Director on the first day of your cruise and tell them about your group. Have fun! :)

Are Meet and Greets just for people from Cruise Critic??

Not sure if there is some rule, but how would they know about it otherwise?

On a related note, we had a big M&G on a TA two years ago. One of the members is an active Travel Agent (TA). He was escorting a group of 40+ people. He did not invite them, though a couple were there because they were active on Cruise Critic. We still had over 120 people.

by the way, one of the "members" of that roll call was in the Garden Villa and arranged to have the M&G there. We did an evening event. Everyone "bought' a drink in the bar downstairs before going up. We did the gift exchange and had a great time.

Yes, I got the automated form e-mail and then a few days later I got an e-mail from a real person. It was soooo early that my roll callhad not really heated up yet...and I couldn't answer some of the questions that the woman asked me....like how many people do I expect... I told her I would get back to her closer to the cruise.... I really think it is a nice opportunity to meet friends and to allow NCL to reach out to people who are frequent contributers to these boards....... I hope that I am able to get alot of people to go to the meet and greet....and I hope you are able to as well!!

Are Meet and Greets just for people from Cruise Critic??

Technically, but on our B2B Jade cruises the M&G was held both times in Le Bistro at 11 AM on the first sea day. Several folks just wandered into the room and asked what was going on. I was at the table by the door so when we told them it was a Cruise Critic gathering with folks who had met online prior to the cruise most who weren't CC members just wandered off, but several came into the room - especially when the captain began speaking to the group! Afterward several of those folks came up to me and asked for the web address as they wanted to join a community of folks who love to cruise! So it can be a good ambassadorship opportunity!!
