Radio,I have "cruised" with you before and love your reports and pics. Thanks so much for doing this. I am doing the repo in Oct and can't wait.

 

We'll be on this cruise also. Last time we went on a 2 week cruise (RCCL Panama Canal) everyone was twice my age. We had to stop 3 times to let off sick people. Hope we have better luck this time. I am mid 40's, husband is mid 50's.

I also wonder what time to get to the terminal. We can get a shuttle that leaves at 10 a.m. or one that leaves at Noon from Quincy.

 

We're going to spend 2 extra nights in New Orleans. Any ideas where to stay?

Radio, I noticed the jet skis in the picture of the snorkel park. We are going on 7/24, and am interested in renting them. Any idea on the prices? Who runs the park? is there some way to contact them (phone # or website?) Thanks, and a great job!

I loved the Sushi Bar. . . It might be one of the best bargains on the Norwegian Spirit.

I couldn’t believe that when I was finished, the Sushi Chef asked me ”Are you ready for some more?” Wow! Once you pay the fee ($15) you can eat a lot of food. . .

Your price also includes soup and dessert. . .

Besides the restaurants you mention, there is also an internet cafe inside the mall at King's Wharf. A Swiss guy runs it. I forget what the rate was but much more reasonable than the ship. You can take your own PC there or use theirs. They're open before the restaurants are so a bit easier.

 

Loved that photo of the Spirit all lit up at night. Also that wonderful and unique Asian decor.

Many thanks for the commentary and pictures! So it appears the ship takes the long way around to dock? I would be nice if they could go direct and dock earlier.

 

Is V8 available or should I bring my own?

The Internet Cafe in the Mall (Swiss Connection) has been closed. I tried to contact the owner several weeks before my cruise to check on prices, and there was no response.

 

I went to the mall yesterday, and his location was replaced with a clothing vendor.

 

I am sitting in my cabin now as I am posting this. My Wi-Fi connection is great here (as long as we are docked) :)

Radio youre a man after my own heart.. one of my fav things are "celebrating" the mornings with a trip to the buffet early and just watch the early morning develop in Bermuda.. wont be quite the activity of St George Sq but i'll bet invigorating just the same. as usual fantastic photos.. if you would or could during the trip some pictures of the LeBistro aboard and maybe the casino? I know they frown on pictures when open but during in port and closed should be no problem.. much noise from above on the 11th deck? and thanks to those who sent me the links for the implosion of the club med/holiday inn in st george.. cant believe i used to drink in the "Pirate's Cove" there all the way back in 1972..lol

Hello everyone. . .Today is our 2nd day in Beutiful Bermuda. . .

 

Yesterday was part of the Festival of the Sea, to celebrate the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009, and to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Royal Naval Dockyard.

 

There was a lot going on. . .

 

 Free entry to the Bermuda Maritime Museum between 10am and 2pm

 Free Dolphin Show at DolphinQuest at 11am

 Mohawk Radio and The Kennel Boys in concert from 4:30pm to 8:30pm

 Plein Aire Painters at various locations throughout the day

 Sunday Dockyard Market, on the Clocktower lawn

 Sea Cadets performances

 Bermuda Sloop Foundation presents ‘Sailing in Bermuda’

 Salsa dancing and display at Bonefish Grill

 Town crier proclamations: 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm

 Roving Pirates around the Clocktower Mall

 Face painting, from 3pm-5pm, on the Clocktower lawn

 Frog & Onion Beer Garden, in the Victualling Yard

 Taste of Bermuda , by The Craft Market & Frog & Onion 12 to 4pm

 Places Gombey Troupe, from 2pm to 2:30pm, on the Clocktower lawn

 

 

Tonight will be Destination Dockyard that should be lots of fun with entertainment and lots of vendors. The Mall will stay open extra late for all of the Cruise Ship Passengers.

The event is sponsored by NCL, and RCI.

 

 

The forecast for today is cloudy with chances of thunderstorms throughout the day.

I will try to make it over to St Georges, to see the Spirit of Bermuda as she arrives, and hopefully stay dry. . . I will take my Scooter on the SeaExpress Ferry.

This is my first post. My husband and I have booked our first cruise. We are sailing on the Spirit to Bermuda in May 2010. Your live updates are a great peek at what we have to look forward to. Thanks alot you are doing a great job with the live reports. :):)

 

Any suggestions for a first timer on the ship or in Bermuda.

I'm jumping on the bandwagon in praise of your commentary and photos. We were on the Spirit's May 1st cruise, so I'm very interested in seeing your pictures and hearing about your activities. We hope to return to Bermuda in October on the Norwegian Dawn. You just can't get enough pictures of the sights in Bermuda or the picturesque Norwegian Spirit.

Wow Radio this is fantastic!! We sail the Spirit July 24 and just can't wait!!

Quick question...my DH loves sushi but I don't care for it...if we go to the sushi restaurant and sit at a table instead of the sushi bar, would there be other items I could order?

Radio, Can't thank you enough for your great pictures of the Spirit and of Bermuda. I having been trying to convince my husband to go on this cruise 9/4/2009 and he was on the fence until I showed him your reports He now has said OK. We were there on a land vacation about 18 years ago but never cruised there. So I again Thank you so much for helping me get my husband to see the light.

From our trip on the Spirit 5/22-5/29, if you sit at a table at Shogun, other than the Teppanyaki table or the sushi bar itself, you can order both sushi and Chinese and other cooked Asian food. You might mention up front that's what you're planning to do. If you sit at Teppanyaki all you can order is Teppanyaki and if you sit at the actual sushi bar they encourage you to stick to ordering sushi.
