Favorite Excursion of all time?

Any port, any cruise line...anytime. What's your favorite excursion?

People think I'm weird all the time considering what my favorite is.

I've been to PV, Mazatlan, Cabo, GC, Jamaica, Coz, St Thomas, St Maarten, Nassau, Freeport, Dominican Reb, and Puerto Rico...so quite a variety.

My favorite is STILL the white river rafting adventure in Ocho Rios that we booked through Carnival. Beautiful river, being in the middle of unspoiled nature...great guides. Not to mention the fun rope swing at the end! (too bad my "someone" lost her top for everyone to see  ) But other than that, it was GREAT!

A CLOSE second would be Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan. It was soooo beautiful riding on an empty beach :)

I have only cruised Alaska/Mexico/Caribbean/Canada/New England....

So far my favorite is a small boat ride to Tracy Arm from Juneau - the company is Adventure Bound Alaska and it was a fantastic trip! It was a 9 hour boat ride and I wished I could have stayed on the boat for a few more hours.

I have 3 that top my list:

1. Ziplining in Costa Rico (Limon)

2. Whitewater rafting in Costa Rico (Limon)

3. Swimming with the dolphins in Cozumel

Now off to Hawaii to do some sites in a Helicopter and then trying ATV in Maui....:D :D

Six hour boat tour in Kenai, Alaska where we saw everything you come to Alaska to see in one trip. Whales, puffins, bald eagles, bears, etc. I could have stayed on that boat forever.

I felt the most spoiled on a catamaran ride around St. Bart's. We only had 10 people on the catamaran and the day was picture perfect. Another trip I would have been content to have last forever.

My most memorable:

From the port of Malaga in Spain, A tour of The Alhambra followed by lunch and a Flamenco performance by a truly professional dance company at a drop dead gorgeous ballroom in Grenada.

Visiting Santiago de la Compostela from the port of Vigo, also in Spain. The cathedral is the quintessential example of gothic architecture. The effect of the interior sculptures, paintings and carvings was so overwhelming that I experienced near sensory overload.

Vienna: capital of the Austrian Republic. Don’t miss the Sacher tortes! Vienna is the music capital of the world and the political, economic and cultural center of Austria. Here you can enjoy every imaginable cosmopolitan pleasure, as well as take a ride on the very same ferris wheel that carried Joseph Cotton and Orson Welles to their dramatic climax of their classic film The Third Man.

Budapest: comprising of tours of the neo Gothic parliament building, Europe’s largest synagogue and, best of all, pancake’s at the world famous Gundel restaurant.

Alaska: Every bit of it!!!

We've done several Caribbean cruises. None of the ports stand out (well, maybe St Lucia), but the absolute best sail/snorkel trip is Eli's Eco Tour, aka Adventure Antigua, in the port of St John. Not far behind is Stuart Cove's "Snorkel Bahamas Adventure" out of Nassau.

The America's Cup Regatta in St. Maarten. I was the timekeeper and hubby was a main grinder.

Hubby "websailor" is a sailor (owns a J24 sailboat) and this was a dream come true for him to sail on a 12 metre racing yacht (Stars and Stripes). His mother and sister were on a competing yacht (True North) and but we won the race :D They were very quiet at dinner that night.

Oh... several favorites:

Egypt: visiting the pyramids, seeing the light show at the Sphinx at night and the next day, the Cairo museum.

France: St. Paul de Vence. I loved it!

Italy: Pompeii (and I loved going to Capri)

Brazil: Meeting of the waters (Manaus)

Hawaii: Kiluea

Belize: the "Thriller" boat ride -- a hoot

St. Maarten: the Americas Cup (another vote)

Caracas: the Murano Glass Factory

I tend not to think of a "beach and a boat" as anything special... if I want to do either, they're within walking distance.

Wow - I'm seeing a trend here! I was in St Maarten and we didn't do a planned excursion, we all ended up going to that nude beach. I forgot the name, but it was very nice and beautiful. I'm marking the America's Cup on my list for next time, that's for sure!!!

Alaska!! I always knew that's something I would like to do one day, just maybe when the DW and I are older. I don't know how I would handle a cruise at this age without HOT weather and SUN all the time! My beautiful wife LOVES sitting out in the sun with a foo foo drink in hand :)

Are you able to gamble in the casino on Alaskan cruises? This is fun, keep em coming!!

OHHHH - My beautiful wife and I did the Canopy Tour in Puerto Vallarta (ziplining) and OMG it was GREAT!!! So exhiliarating! The only thing that was bad about it was the hip harness really started to hurt after a little while...just kept digging into my sides. Because of that, I was really happy for it to be over. It's something I'll always remember though :) I have such vivid memories of Ashley (DW) giggling uncontrollably when she got off of her first zipline :) It was soooo adorable!

Not realy a shore excursion, but my all time best cruise moment was sailing Glacier Bay in Alaska:D I was up extra early and met with the park ranger as he boarded the ship. I had a private guide since no one else was up that early (around 5am) and it was awesome to see the change in scenery from the entrance of the bay to the back of the bay by the glaciers. It was like traveling back in time.

My most memorable shore excursion was swimming with the Dolphins in Ocho Rios. Am looking forward to doing it again on my next cruise.

Second to that was swimming with the sting rays in Grand Cayman.

My dream cruise is to someday sail to the North Cape and experience the midnight sun and see the Fjords.
