Why are "Exclusive Casino Rate" emails pouring in from RCCL?

Recommended Posts

I always play around in the casino during my cruises (emerald member) and while cruising in January, I was with a friend who also enjoys to play craps, so we were both starting with $500-$700 per night, and usually left even, or a little a head. They always asked for my sea pass at the table, but $500-$700 is nothing compared to some people at the tables, so I'm no where close to a "high roller"...

Anyway, I've been cruising twice a year with RCCL for 5 years, and in the last month I've noticed numerous "Exclusive Casino Rate" emails. They say "As a valued Casino player, we've picked these cruises just for you!

Enjoy using your exclusive Casino rate!*" *Guests may book directly through their travel partners or call our casino cruise consultants toll free at 1 888 561 2234 operating hours are Monday.

While comparing the prices listed in the emails with the normal pricing (using a different browser) it appears they are around a 25-30% discount for balcony rooms and suites.

My question is, are these targeted emails to casino players, or are these just mass emailed to everyone disguised as a savings?

Thank you for your help.

We also have received e-mails but also via mail to call. We cruise twice a year, Diamond Plus, have inquired into Met Life and on last cruise, as to the casino players benefit. Did not meet playing amounts. So, we are wondering why. In any event, I called on our upcoming cruise and got $215 reduced off our already $250 C & A discount and BOGO discount. The rep was not all familiar with why we got this invite, it was new to her. She put me on hold for a minute, couldn't really answer why, but gave us the discount.:D

Wow, thanks for the responses! I guess I lucked out since I recycled the same money through the casino for one whole week! Maybe a pit boss messed up with the crediting, either way, I'm going to jump on one of these offers. Thanks again.

Doesn't matter if you win or lose.....

All about time spent and average bet

We have received three such emails, all have come to my email but are addressed to my husband and he NEVER gambles! And I never spend more than $100.00 in the casino on any cruise.

Just like the land based casinos , they dont really care whether you win or lose, they just like you to bet a lot.

I spoke to a casino Rep to see what you had to do to get rated and this is what I was told:

blackjack...$50.00 per hand for several hours...per day

slots...$5.00 per spin for several hours...per day

I dont know about craps or roulette, but you get the idea.

Do these things and you get free drinks(while playing) and cruise discounts

Hope this helps.

Doug

Does anyone know if it is only for the dates listed when you click on the link? We have an Eastern Oasis trip coming in October and I got this email but did not call because I assumed it was only for the May sailings.

When you click through on the emails, the date defaults to may-june (at least for me) but if you change the dates, it will populate with a bunch more sailings. I was pricing out a cruise for november that happens to be listed in the email, and it is 26% cheaper than my travel agent's best price, and he is usually the best price I can find.

I am an infrequent slot player while onboard, but have received several of these emails. Whe I check the "discounted" fares they appear to be regular fares, if there is such a thing anymore. With the perpetual BOGOHO "sales" there are no regular prices anymore.

They are looking for THEO, several factors go into it, like time and average bet. One thing that I would be curious about is whether they look at THEO based on the cruise length or the days you put money in a machine or on the table. Say, at a hotel in Vegas, if you are at the hotel three days and only play two at your home base, your theo average is knocked down.

Why is this important? If they look at just the days you put money in, you may be better off playing 2 days rather than 4-5 days with the same bankroll amount. If you have $500 as an example of bankroll to play through, burning $250 through the machines for two days as compared to $100 for 5 may net out a better rating.

My assumption is they use the cruise length to create a standard to compare against, but who knows.

For us in the CR VIP program we understand how it works:D

I am a Casino Royale VIP, and I have never received an email (was invited in October) but I have called into the casino department and booked some cruises over the phone. Every single price they have given me is ~45% off the full rates (Booked mostly suites, but was quoted this discount on balcony rooms as well.) How do they determine what level of discount to give?

I would love to get these emails as well! They already have me email address (I get emails about my casino rebate) Did you have to sign up to receive them?

You need to get yourself on the casino forum threads, as we members do get all the emails.

And these emails and offers are posted on CC by CR VIP members for the members that for some reason are not getting the emails.

Your discount for being a member is going to depend on your spend and play time from a previous cruise

Hence your rebate equated amount.

Also what cruises you are offered will also be a factor of your expenditure and time tracked from a previous cruise.

Worth noting Exclusive casino rates are for VIP members, the 45% you quote is not going to be offered to non members.

Unless they are rolling out a new segment of the NEW CR program.

So here goes.

Just to possibly get an invite to become a CR VIP member.

As it is by Invitation only.

Play $50 per hand at Blackjack

Play $25 per spin at Roulette

Play $3-$5 per spin on slots

Other table games are going to be + $25 per bet at least

Average 2-4 hrs per day in the casino, applying the betting listed.

It has been stated that you need 300pts per day to possibly qualify to be invited to CR program. This is a point base system calculated on the slots.

You must insert your Seapass card when playing

NOTE: these points are also for keychains, hats and small cash rebates, all available at the Cashiers desk.

That equates to dropping $1500 per day in the slots!

So on a 7 day cruise to catch the eye of the Casino Host or Casino Manager, you want to be dropping around $10k a week.

That's ball park and formulated by an equation that is the secret equation of the casino.

R= Tx4(300) + X %100 >4hrs + luck = possible invite

So if you are expecting free drinks, free cruises, highly discounted cruises

$500 a week in the casino might get you a keychain or a T-Shirt

For those members who get the free drinks, free cruises, highly discounted fares, we have paid for them in one way or another over the years.

And we ALL know they are not truly FREE. But they are perks and CR perks IMO, are much better than any land based casino.

Happy Days!

A wealth of experience, knowledge and great people all members of CR VIP program.

We are just awaiting the roll out of the New program, has been delayed until March 2016.

Although we are experiencing roll outs from original date of March 2015.

So a great place to see what is happening and what offers we are receiving:D

Be lucky!

Called the Casino Royale rep and my residency discount was greater than theirs would have been so I stayed with what I have. But if it had been better she would have honored the lower rate on my existing reservation. So it is worth a call if you got the email just to get them to check. :)

In the past several weeks I have received at least three of those exclusive casino rate emails. Marie and I spend a paltry $20 a night in the penny slots when on the ships.

If that is a high roller for Royal, they are in trouble. :p

My friend who cruises with me (I'm a Club Royale member) has received a couple of these "Exclusive Casino Rate" emails, too. He's not a big gambler at all and wouldn't be what I would consider to be Club Royale's target audience.

I guess with the new program that Club Royale will be rolling out, they're also hoping to attract new potential members.
